  1. GirlNextGondor shares her thoughts on AI, ChatGPT and what Tolkien would think about it. And oh my god, yes; Lexi does have a face and it's stunningly beautiful.
  2. Here's something a little different. I didn't know we had a horse guard in Edmonton, now on duty in the U.K.
  3. Rubin Observatory skyviewer: https://skyviewer.app/explorer
  4. Interstellar comets! If you have joined the comet catchers project; I'd point out that there is a toggle switch at the bottom of the window that may capture movement.
  5. You can now join the Rubin Observatory comet catchers project: https://www.zooniverse.org/projects/orionnau/rubin-comet-catchers
  6. Yes. The stream was very interesting. Aziz describes the psychology of paranoia this creates in Roose Bolton's camp and the various factions in Winterfell. This may have been Mance's plan but it didn't go quite the way he expected.
  7. I believe I've been fooled by the LOTR youtube I posted upthread. I think that whole channel is chatGPT generated.
  8. History of Westeros is doing a livestream today at 3:00 pm EST on the Winterfell Murders. I'm curious.
  9. Gosh, what to say about podcasts. I didn't really start looking at them in earnest until about 2 years ago when I thought I needed to know more about Blood and Fire. Really, I was quite astonished; I thought the whole thing had come a long way. I've sampled quite a few on various subjects, not necessarily ASOIAF. There are some that I stick with for their expertise and general tone. I also look at new podcasters - the next generation, so to speak. And I do support some now because I know that a lot of time and effort goes into making them and I appreciate the content, humour and new ideas, even if they aren't fully fleshed out. I take a pass on anything that is full of anger. That's not the head space I want to be around. I do think podcasts can make people curious about reading the books if they haven't already done so. Especially if their entry point to the subject/author is the TV show. If I'm looking for written essays; I'll come here. As for any theories that I have had over the years; it doesn't matter to me if I'm right or wrong; if I can remember them in the first place. What I don't want to do is get into any flame wars over something silly. The only thing I'm really sticking with is that Ned is the Tree Knight. Cheers.
  10. LOL!. Was it the one with the futuristic lodgings? That didn't go that well. Does he ever know a lot about wine. He's a big fan of George Martin also.
  11. Yes, I think OX might be a 2 star by now. I don't see anything on Alexander the Guests playlist about Iceland. I hope you can get a reservation. That would be a really neat experience.
  12. OOOOHH! I see. That sounds fantastic!
  13. Not to mention that there are 2 Michelin star restaurants in Rekyavik! That's where you should take Linda!
  14. Checking in at Zooniverse and I don't see any projects populated with the Rubin data yet. Probably a bit too soon. The Galaxy Zoo project is classifying galaxy morphology for images from the JWST Cosmos survey; if anyone wants to get their feet wet. The images are quite distant and can be too grainy or pixelated to classify, but you can skip them. . I did post one that I think is a ring galaxy. Here's the link if you want to sign up: https://www.zooniverse.org/projects
  15. Bully for him. I doubt the Witcher series will transcend the author in the way that Tolkien's and Martin's books will go beyond mere entertainment.
  16. I don't know who he is or anything about him. Looks like attention seeking to me and who cares anyway.
  17. I know what you mean. I've wandered into one or two man caves expressing a lot of anger and doing critical drinking stuff. If you are going to swear every second word; be creative: And likewise, if you are going to slap someone around; do it with style:
  18. Oh I see. No I was talking about this model of Igor:
  19. Geez. I should be going to you with my LOTR questions!
  20. Well thanks! Every Igor mentioned in Discworld. They are all called Igor or Igorina.
  21. Sorry, I think I mixed you up with Brad Stark. In other news, I've screwed up my knee and I'm dragging my leg around like my name is Igor.
  22. I wonder what would happen if Jon's body is raised by fire, while his soul is taking a ride with Ghost. I don't know if Ghost will survive when it comes down to it.
  23. I'm not convinced that destroying the form the WWs take actually kills them permanently either. This is interesting if you have the time. Schwift thinks that the preternatural event was the forging of Lightbringer and the blood sacrifice of Nissa Nissa. This event is also described as causing a crack in the face of the moon. There isn't an actual crack in the moon; it's symbolic of the unnatural division between light and dark, love and hate, life and death and fire and ice. Something that shows up in the iconography of the House of Black and White.
  24. Yes, right. I keep thinking of him coming back to his own body Coldhands style. Then, of course, he can be killed.
