What is it about S4 that makes it so much more watchable than S1-3?

Yeah so overall King's Landing has been the best storyline of every season, but the best storyline in Season 5 is definitely going to be Jon and Team Dragonstone.

Let's hope. I'm so glad that I don't need to worry about Kit Harrington's acting anymore. Oh and apparently Jon is getting the most amount of screentime in Season 5, so that's a good sign.

The only big thing I didn't like was the whole Bran-at-Craster's sequence that seemed like it took forever and didn't seem to be of much consequence. I've loved all seasons so far. The 5 trailer looks like they're changing a ton of stuff up- which makes me nervous but I'm still excited. I'm going to be really bummed if they straight up axed Val, Euron, and Vic.

The other side of the coin is that more chapters are "adapted" to Season 5 than were "adapted" to Season 2.

True, but Season 4 covered some of AFFC and ADWD for Brienne, Sansa, Theon, Bran, and Dany. So Season 5 will be adapting Jon's Chapters from ASOS and about 100 Chapters of AFFC and ADWD, but will definitely condense a lot of it. Jaime is going to Dorne so that removes his Riverlands chapters and it seems that some characters are moving into Winds of Winter territory. It's going to be a little confusing to map it out.

Yeah, I hope that it's going to be the longest (in terms of minutes) season yet.

It really needs to be.

Season 1 was 567 minutes in total (9 hours and 27 minutes)

Season 2 was 549 minutes in total (9 hours and 9 minutes)

Season 3 was 563 minutes in total (9 hours and 23 minutes)

Season 4 was 543 minutes in total (9 hours and 3 minutes)

There are so many potential cool interactions in the Wall and Tyrion storylines this year that I'd hate to see them miss those opportunities.
