Any good 90's Hip-hop (not too mainstream) recommendations?

MF DOOM and Aesop Rock are probably my two favourite solo rappers right now, I recommend them if you dig good lyrics.

Aesop Rock is performing like 15 minutes from my house next month so I will be seeing him. Labor Days is an all-time classic album.

Golden age of Hip-Hop was during the 90's. There was so much good stuff out there and I feel like I've yet to check most of it out.

I've heard the good 90s albums by Wu-Tang, Jay-Z, Nas, Biggie and Tupac but what are some other good artists who had great stuff out in the 90s preferably East-Coast? I've been listening to Rakim and Bone Thugs and Harmony.

Any other suggestions?

I used to love me some 90's hip hop! I went to a Bone Thugs show when I was like 12 years old (1996), Nas opened for them.

For east coast, I recommend Del the Funky Homosapien (his pre-Deltron 3030 stuff... if you haven't heard Deltron 3030 - it is a MUST listen, but it came out in like 2001 I think, so not '90's'), Kool Keith/Dr. Octagon, Smif N Wessun, Heltah Skeltah, Black Moon, and if you haven't checked out some of the solo Wu-Tang members... GZA, Raekwon, Method Man and Ol Dirty Bastard all put out classic first albums.

I do think that you are really limiting yourself by just listening to east coast rap, because there were also a ton of great west coast rap albums that came out in the 90's too.

I foresee myself spending the next few hours on YouTube reliving my childhood music.

Oh fuck yeah. "No Need For Alarm" and "I Wish My Brother George Was Here" are classic.
