ASoIaF 20 Questions #107

Jon's Queen Consort

Recommended Posts

Well, other Jon's thoughts in the three chapter are rather triviial up to my tastes.

Is it among:

The king can be harsh and unforgiving, aye, but a babe still on the breast? Only a monster would give a living child to the flames.

If I put my seal to this, I will forever be remembered as the lord commander who gave away the Wall, he thought, but if I should refuse

I have to sign it. They chose me to be their lord commander. The Wall is mine, and the Watch as well. The Night’s Watch takes no part.

If I comfort her, she may think that tears can move me. She has to realize that I will not yield.

She will curse me with her dying breath, but I saw no other way.

This is my lot, he realized as he undressed, from now until the end of my days.

So it's Jon 3.

I made presumably complete list of Jon's thoughts more or less fitting JQC's answers (except hint3 which is somewhat subjective criteria):

1) He is stone and she is flame. (Stannis and Mel)

2) You can give them land and mercy, but the free folk choose their own kings, and it was Mance they chose, not you. (Stannis)

3) He no longer looks much like a pomegranate. (Bowen Marsh)

4) What would you know of honest men? (Thorne)

5) He was always the more dangerous of the two. (Thorne)

6) His red shadow. She never leaves his side for long. (Mel)

7) He took my hand and named me friend. (Tyrion)

8) He thinks this is all some game. (Pip)

9) A lord may love the men that he commands, he could hear his lord father saying, but he cannot be a friend to them. One day he may need to sit in judgment on them, or send them forth to die. (Ned?)

10) He’s sixty if he’s a day. An old man. He only seemed young compared with Aemon. (Clydas)

11) My last friend, Jon thought ruefully. And I had best outlive you, or you’ll eat my face as well. (the raven)

I think 9 is most fitting hint3 though least fitting answer 16. Let's discuss before asking question 19. Opinions?

9 does relate to another character, Eddard. 11s a little macabre but it could work. I don't remember what 3 was about.
