Pebble thats Stubby
34 minutes ago, Heartofice said: One good point about the Oxford vaccine is that nobody in the trials was hospitalised after getting only the first dose, which means we can actually do what Tony Blair was suggesting and focus on giving more people the first dose and space out the second dose a little longer. Which means we can get back to normal even faster. This is good news for the UK I think I read with this vaccine a longer wait between the 1st and 2nd leads to better protection. Although we still need both bits within 12 weeks. But that should help with getting the first does into more people.
JoannaL
Wasn't there some problems with the phase III with the AstraZeneca vaccine? Not that it is dangerous or anything but IIRC there were problems to determine the efficency (somewhere between 60 -90%) due to some problems with dosage? Is this alreday solved? how could they repeat the phase III so quickly?
ljkeane
They haven't. It's been approved on the basis of it being 62% effective with two full doses. There's some evidence it could be more effective if different doses are used but that hasn't been proven yet.
