Lord Baelish
Well, it isn't too long now until his new book, The Bonehunters, comes out. I have to admit, I am looking forward to this book far more than I was A Feast for Crows, and I'll be buying it as soon as it comes out. What/who are you hoping to see in this book? I hope Ganoes Paran has a large role to play here, and that he may even see his sister. I want to see some of the disparate threads coming together, starting the build up to the final battle with the Crippled God. Some more big battles between some of the big hitters would be nice, too. Let's see Karsa kick some more arse, please.
squiddly
When's Bonehunters coming out again? Spring?
Lord Baelish
Yeah, I think it is supposed to be released in February. Erikson had wanted it out this year, of course, until the publishers got in the way.
Multaniette
Hmm, who do you think will win in a fight between Karsa Orlong and Anomander Rake (without his magical powers)?
Lord Baelish
If Rake had Dragnipur, he would. One cut and it's all over. If they both had normal swords, then ... who knows? Rake has skill, Karsa has awesome strength. Whoever made the first mistake would lose, I suppose.
Craix
They aren't going to fight without Anomander having his magic powers so Anomander wins in a breeze.
Captain Canada
I am looking forward to this book far more than I was A Feast for Crows, and I'll be buying it as soon as it comes out. I have to agree with you there. Midnight Tides was a great book and Erikson has set up so many interesting mysteries I can't wait to see resolved. I get the impression that he knows exactly where he is going and none of his revelations seems forced or fake which I really like. What/who are you hoping to see in this book? More Paran for sure, I'd like to see him and his sister meet, that would be an epic conversation. Of course it will also be interesting to see how the events in Midnight Tides effect the present day. I hope to maybe see a little bit of Mael, by far the coolest character in the books so far IMO.
Lord Baelish
I doubt Silchas and his group will come into it, which is a shame. I really want to see the dynamic between the people there. Possibly the most powerful, and certainly the most interesting, group we've got so far. Plus of course, more of Fiddler please! My favourite character so far - let's see him blow some more things up with the Moranth munitions.

Of course, I would rather have both to read. It will be interesting to see Ganoes reach his full abilities as Master of the Deck.
Bastard of Godsgrace
I have already read The Bonehunters and it is indeed very good (though not as good, as DG, IMHO). One annoying factor is that it is really good to have read Night of Knives, because if you didn't some minor plot points may escape you (it is nothing important, mind you, but still). Guest OsRavan
any idea on when the new book shows up here?
TerraPrime
I've read Gardens of the Moon and Deadhouse Gate. So what's the next book in the series? For me, I still prefer Martin to Erickson. In fact, while I think Erickson is above average and that he writes an enjoyable read, I really haven't been wowed by the books. I think Bakker's stuff are better. Eurytus
Memories of Ice is next up. A good book too. One of the two best in the series in my opinion.
Calibandar
BoG How would you rate the Malazan books with The Bonehunters included? Secondly, is there anything that you can say about the book? Something that really stood out for you?
Werthead
I'm guessing you've got an ARC, BoG? Seems a bit early for them to be out though. Unless there's a chance of the book coming out before its February 1st date? Any new maps? I yearn for a world map showing Genabackis, Seven Cities, Quon Tali etc. in relation to one another. And to an earlier thread, I don't think there's going to be a Last Battle-style war against the Crippled God. I think Erikson's going to do something a bit more interesting. Especially if the remaining books all take place outside the Empire, that knocks out the theory that the Malazans and the Tiste Edur are going to have a huge rumble (unless it happens off-screen, which would be rather unsatisfying). Xanrn
I cannot wait to get my hands on the next Malazan Book....I'm really hoping we'll get to see the Bridgeburners again.... Yeah bloody publishers bunch of fuckwads, I hope their cars breakdown, their partners have affairs. I knew they would pull this crap with Night of Knives, I will read it when it doesn't cost far to much for a full novel let alone a short story. You know what they should just include NoK free inside Bonehunters to make up for the godforsaken wait.
MoP
Xanrn, couple of points. 1. The publishers of NoK and the publishers of the main Malazan books are two different companies. 2. Despite writing in the same world, Ian Cameron Esslemont and Steven Erikson are two different writers with their own contractual agreements. 3. Esslemont has not been published previously and the only publisher willing to take the risk of publishing NoK was PS Publishing. They are a niche publisher that specialise in doing small print runs of fantasy and scifi short stories and novellas and the price they charged for NoK is in line with what they charge for other books they publish. Whining that they are overcharging will not change that fact. It is their business model. If they release a paperback version it will be cheaper, but not until it is picked up by a large scale publisher will the price reach the levels of normal novellas. Indeed, we are lucky that PS Publishing took the punt they did otherwise we might not have seen it otherwise. 4. More of an observation - what is it with fantasy fans that whenever the next book in a series takes a bit longer than expected to be released (remember, TBH will come out about 2 years after MT, much less than the more than 5 years between ASoS and AFfC) it is their right to be provided with special freebies to mollify some sense of being cheated?
