Some comments: I would like to have a younger person for Jon. There is also serious doubts about Barnes availability, and also I don´t really like him very much. I don't think we need to bring in known actors for Myrcella and Tommen. What they really has to do is stand around being cute. Cast some local kids. I think Pirkis is to old for Joffrey. Also I read somewhere that he has stopped acting to concentrate on his studies. From the one on the poll I think [url="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1035889/"]Cole Peterson[/url] is the best. But I don´t really have a better alternative. I really like the casting for Arya. Lord O' Bones Posted January 8, 2009 Share Posted January 8, 2009 Robb is young, not delicate. Tricia Helfer is gorgeous, but far from realm famous bosomy. Ian Holm or Bill Nighy, yeah right. Minor roles for actors that they can't afford. And Holm is easily twice the age of Luwin. Ian McNeice as Varys is an inspired choice. Edit: The rest? In the casting thread titled San/San, they are discussing that Sandor (28 in GoT) needs to be closer in age to Sansa, in case the shippers are right... Even if they're not, Sansa fantacises about Sandor. Unless we want sexual tension similar to Portman/Reno in Leon, Sandor needs to at least look like he's in his late twenties. All of the kids are going to be hard to cast until at least one of them is cast. Boros and Meryn have nearly zero lines the whole series. Yes they may be important, but they are important extras, at best. That, and when the polls were created, there were no actor suggestions for them anyway... :) Basically, anyone who's getting cast mostly for looks is a local casting issue imao. There needs to be one or two actors reasonably widely known in the USA for the pilot to have some audience pull in this key kick-off market. Best if they are American actors. Eddard being one of the PoVs with plenty of screen time is an automatic choice for a known US actor, and king Bob is another. Either Cersei or Catelyn should also be a known US actor. Having a known actor deliver "In the Game of Thrones you win or you die" to another known actor in the trailers, will bring in the punters to give EP 1 a go. Adelle Tully Posted January 12, 2009 Share Posted January 12, 2009 I think our lists and polls are mostly just suggestions on the basic looks the audience (in this case, that's us!) are looking for in each character. I agree with Anti that there has to be someone in it with some sort of a name and I think the key ticket will be actors who are known and who are fans of the series already...who knows, maybe they'll work for less if they're fans! I know if I were famous, I'd be all over this like flies on honey; not because this is a golden academy award moment, but because it'd be my chance to be part of the world itself, in a sense. I'd love to be immortized in this series as one of the POV characters. As for no names: I think this will boost the no names up by a long shot. I mean look what happened to David Tenant (yeah, so he was in the Shakesphere Threatre...I'd never heard of him), he was a no name and now he's the most famous Doctor ever. And then there's the guys from Rome. Their faces are easily recognized no matter what they're doing. I watched the one about the guy who jumps in time that had the blonde guy (who's name is on the tip of my tongue) and I was like "Hey, isn't that the guy from Rome?"
