The Dornishman's Wife
Barristan maybe?Definitely controversial. He's been criticized for standing idly by during Aerys' reign, for shielding Dany from the truth about said reign, for changing his loyalties after the Trident (unlike e.g. the ToJ three), for rediscovering his true loyalties just in the moment he's been fired, for being in over his head in Meereen, for not standing with Ned in the matter of Dany's assassination and Cersei's regency coup. I don't think all of these criticisms are justified and none of it makes him a monster, but there are certainly many readers who eye him at least somewhat critically. Helgar
On the other hand, I don't think that one can say anything bad about Elia Martell. Not only she is described as a kind and witty woman, not only she sufferred a terrible death, not only her husband humiliated her by choosing another woman, younger and more healthy and more beautifu than her, but she is probably the only person, with the exception of Jaime, who was not disgusted by the sight of baby Tyrion. Elia was probably one of the nicest people in the books.This. Justice for Elia! Even though pretty much everyone who contributed to her suffering is now dead... still... Justice for Elia! RenlyIsNotRight
Dolorous Edd from my experience is probably the most universally well liked character.

A very incompetent action. I agree with the rest of your list though.
Tyrell_like_Squirrel
Tommen, Myrcella, Hodor, and Davos for good guys.Ramsay, Gregor, Joffrey, and Kraznys for bad guys. I honestly see no argument or room for controversy with any of them

Ser Uncle P
Of the POV's, it's Lady Brienne and Davos Seaworth hands down, the moral compass and conscience of ASOIAF. However, Brienne's travelogue chapters in AFFC has caused controversy about pacing etc!

Angmar
Old Nan. Elia Martell. Maester Aemon and Luwin. Hodor. Tommen and Myrcella. Jeyne Poole. Shireen and all the children at Dragonstone. Rhaenys and baby Aegon. Rickon. Lady and Summer. Septon Meribald. Hot Pie. Meera Reed. Edd.Then there's Bran, Samwell, and Brienne- They're on the same vein as the above, but their chapters are mostly thought of as dull. And the definite villains are Joffrey, the Mountain and Ramsay. No one argues that.
