ellisg
I think blood goes out the window when someone runs off with your betrothed. Especially if you love them like Robert loved her. Not just that but everyone born a Baratheon is in someway related to the Targaryens as the founder of House Baratheon was Orys Baratheon Aegon the Conquerors bastard half brother. Rickeen Baratheon
The thing is, 'gods' don't punish the kinslayers, as I do not believe they actually exist in the ASOIF universe. There is a term used in real life, "History is written by the winners." - It is down to perception, really. Yes, he killed his second cousin, but to the realm he killed the mad king's son who kidnapped a northern lady.

Kuther2000
is it really second?Yea. That seems about right. They share the same great-grandparents. Their grandparents were siblings. Aerys and Steffon were first cousins. If Robert or Stannis had been a girl or if the Baratheon brothers had a sister, Rhaegar would have probably married one of them.
