The Fate of Edmure?

Recommended Posts

Then there is the fact that the queen of whores and the whore that Bracken was fucking might have been the same person. Not the mention that fake siege that was underway when Jamie got there. The fact that Blackwood would only surrender to Jamie was strange. Almost as if they were buying time. They wanted the western forces in the field as long as possible and as far away from the West as possible. I'm of the mind that the Blackfish, Lady Stoneheart, The Brotherhood, and the rest of the Trident lords are about to turn the West inside out.

I think Lady Apple has the right of it. The convoy, never reaches CR and things hardly ever go as planned in this series. Members of the BwB, seem likely to be the one's who free him.

As for the idea of him dying in the end, I very much doubt this. The way I look at; just as Rickkon is being set up to continue the Stark line/name, Edmure is the same for the Tully line. He more or less seems to be one of better lord paramouts, in the series; someone I'd gladly live under.

Wouldn't Jaime have noticed and remarked that it was the same whore though? He got the surrender of Raventree Hall not very long after Riverrun.

Interesting. Prester does say he has his best longbowmen guarding Edmure. They don't get much better than Anguy.

Thats a good point.

We know Ned tried to hire Anguy based on his tourney win.

I don't see why he couldn't get hired by Prester based on his tourney/street cred.

not if he wasn't really paying attention to her. They both had dark curly hair if I remember correctly, but that's the only thing that he remarks on about the Queen other than her crown. The whore in Brakens tent makes a point of telling Jamie her name almost like this time I want you to remember me. All the while Braken under the guise of being caught with his pants down is rushing her out of the tent, but maybe it's more than that. He doesn't want Jamie to get any ideas, the same way Blackfish played Jamie when he mentions him going to the wall. It's a very basic maneuver and tact taken in Game conversations all the time. Look here while I'm really talking about something over yonder. Think one thing while really was talking about a completely different topic.

Jamie ended the siege at both Riverrun and at Raventree hill.

Frey and Western forces were holding Riverrun under siege, with Edmure being the price if they continued to hold out. Riverrun fell first, then after Edmure and Blackfish's surrender he escapes and then Jamie goes to Raventree to get Blackwood back into the kings peace. It was the Brackens the were holding the siege.

If there is an ambush Edmure is screwed. Forley Prester is no fool, he has a strong escort of 400 war tested soldiers and would slaughter the Brotherhood's thugs. If the battle does start to go against him I think he would have Edmure killed rather than let him fall into the enemies hands, Jaime did after all order him to kill Edmure if he tried to escape.

That's why I don't think it will be an ambush. It will be a deep undercover mission that would make Natasha Romanoff proud

I knew there was a third instance of the Brotherhood showing up related to a camp follower. I don't think it's the same person, though. But it's still a pattern of camp followers possibly/probably tipping the Brotherhood off.

Again, it's a case of it being so thoroughly planned out that it's almost guaranteed to go off in some other direction.

Are you forgetting all those displaced northern troops that survived Roose and his treacheries in Maidenpoole? What about those suppose Trident lords at Riverrun that Jamie already suspects their loyalty. Some of those lords homes are in the same direction as the western lords. Not to mention that when they start to disembark from Riverrun, they have the river between them cutting them of from a retreat or relief from the south. The trident and north aren't as helpless nor as toothless as the Lannister/cronies think

Seems pretty likely that the BWB has infiltrated the Lannister army so I think he will be freed on his way to Casterly Rock.

If that doesn't happen I could see him being in some real trouble. Jamie could be missing for a while and I wouldn't be surprised to see Cersei returned to the Rock after her embarrassment. He cut that deal with Jamie I doubt Cersei would honour it.

My crackpot goes like this:

Some of the missing BwB members, like Anguy and Ned Dayne, have infiltrated Edmure's escort disguised as Lannister soldiers, using the uniforms and coats of the many soldiers they've hanged. Just like Tom has infiltrated Riverrun, it makes sense to ambush the group taking Edmure from within, since Jaime is expecting an external attack.

I like it.

I think you underestimate the BwB. They were founded literally in the first engagement of the war, the Mummer's Ford, and have been fighting constantly ever since. They're pretty battle hardened.

Also, as some others mentioned, several river lords will be heading west. Easy enough for them to send troops to help the Brotherhood spring Edmure and Jeyne.

It's called an ambush for a reason. Attack the column from front, both sides, and rear at once, with the element of complete surprise, and hopefully from the top of a defile that the road is passing through, and they could be the Spartans of Leonidas, they'll still be massacred in seconds. Have your own archers fire their first shots at the ones guarding Edmure and Jeyne Westerling, and get them out of there first before dealing with the rest of the enemy.

It can easily be done, if well coordinated.

I think he will not be saved alive. House Tully will go extinct in the male line. I think Sansa will be the Lady of Riverrun in the end. She might start a new House according to who will be her husband (my favourite is Hoster Blackwood).

They haven't been fighting a war, they have been hanging small groups of soldiers and occasionally clashing with sellswords.

Prester said he is going to screen the march and send out outriders so I doubt they are going to take him unaware, and even if they do he has 10 men guarding Edmure at all times. The Riverlords aren't coordinating with the Brotherhood so why would they send men to help them? There will be nothing easy about it, Prester has 400 men.
