If you could be a character and change one thing, what?

If you could be in the books (the story so far, not the future books) and be a character (not make one up), but only one character and change only one major thing, who would you be and what would you do?

For me, I would be Robb. It was the Greatjon with rocks for brains that shouted out first that Robb should be king. Eddard would never have taken a crown. He would have had the sense to go to Stannis, the rightful heir. And even if Robb didn't know that Joffery was a bastard, that still didn't give him a better claim to a crown than Stannis.

So, I would have told the Greatjon to shut up. Then gone to Dragonstone. And this is the best bit, marry Shireen. Robb had a lot of swords and was as high born as a lad gets. Shireen might have a face scar, but so what? She is a sweet girl. Well, I have always like sweet girls. So if Robb asked for his hand, he would have gotten it. And then his own son by Shireen would have been king anyway!

If Robb had have done something like that, he would've been alright. But as he did now, I really hate the guy. Am sort of glad he er... died... dramatically!

I'd be Joffery. Its part of a complex plan.

Here it is ... I would NOT be a sadistic little shit.

When Ned got accused of Treason, I would have sent him to the wall.

After that, I would probably have held onto the sword Ice or (more likley) let Sansa hold onto it until it can be given to the first son I have with her (this way all future kings get a Valyrian steel sword).

Next, I would have actually tried to feed the starving people of Kings Landing (as apposed to mocking them).

The war will be much easier to win, as The North would not have rebelled if Ned was not executed. Without the northern rebellion, all royal forces can focus solely on Stannis. In fact, the Northern armies would still fight for the Iron Throne and soon Stannis would be defeated.

And while all of this is going on, Ned would be going on Night's Watch Adventures with Jon. What could be a better father-son bonding experience than ridding the world of The Others.

If I were Viserys, I would have some sense to keep my mouth shut and have some patience. I also would have joined forces with Dany when she attacked Slaver's Bay and took over Mereen and used my anger to force the people of Astapor and Yunkai to bow to my sister.

Then once we were good and ready, we'd take the dragons and the armies and attack Westeros. That place will feel our wrath (as well as the wrath of Jon Snow and Tyrion) because they turned their backs on our family.

(in the epilogue, I'd find out who Jon really was and pay the Stark family a blood debt for protecting him; yet I'd be peeved at Ned for lying about my "nephew" for the last 18 years)

If I was Ned: I would not go to King's Landing unless Robert gave me the freedom to pick my own Small Council.

Robert: Not marry Cersei (and not let my brothers marry her either).

Tywin: Not gangrape Tysha.

Tyrion: Kill LF as soon as he got to KL (seriously, it required a lot of plot armor for LF not to be killed right there)

Robb: Not release Theon- even if he married Jeyne, there would be no RW if the Freys and Boltons thought Robb had two heirs secure. That is, if the Ironborn even invaded the North in the first place with Theon as a hostage, which is by no means certain.

Stannis: Release the letters informing of the incest as soon as Robert died.

I thought of someone else I could be.

I'd be Rhaegar, and I'd show some damn restraint. I wouldn't cheat on my Dornish wife Elia, and I ESPECIALLY wouldn't carry off someone else's fiancée.

That's how wars are started.

Ned: as soon as Robert dies hire a ship to take me to Dragonstone. Organize with Stannis and have him give me safe passage back to the North in exchange for Northern support of his claim. Stoping in the Vale to gather their support.

Robb: Dont marry Jeyne and send Rickard Karstark to the wall holding him hostage in the mean time to assure his men's loyalty.

Dany: After taking the Unsullied remain in Astapor and build up my forces instead of going on an antislavery campaign.

Arya: Instead of wasting my three names on nobodies and petty grudges really make them count. Kill Joffery, Tywin, and save the last for a personal grudge.

(sorry broke the rules a little but couldn't decide on one character to pick)

I like the idea of another Baratheon/Stark marriage alliance but at that point Robb was already pledged to the Frey girl. True he broke that anyway but at least when he did it was spur of the moment instead of an organized marriage pact.

Maybe Rickon or Bran could be wed to Shireen to solidify that alliance. It's too bad the timing didn't work out for something like that to happen.

When Ned found out about the twincest, Robert was still alive. I would have told him, no matter how much it would have hurt his feelings. Going to Stannis would have been a good idea once Robert died, though.

Yep good point forgot he was out hunting not dead yet when that all went down. Flee the capital once Robert dies is a good move IMO. Although Sansa probably would have told Cersei all about it anyway.
