Westeros Jeopardy: The Play at Home Version

Sometime back In 2013 (Wow, was it really that long ago?!), Lany, Pebbles and I hosted a game of Westeros Jeopardy. We had a lot of fun with it as did the players. If I recall correctly, Jaime’s Wench was ultimately crowned as the winner and champion. We had planned upon running more games and actually planned out another full game board with revised rules to improve the flow of the game. But, things being what they are, life got busy for us and that “next game” was put aside and, in time, forgotten.

Recently, I stumbled across our last batch of trivia and since (1) there’s no sense in letting a full game board go to waste and (2) the new Game of Thrones TV season is almost upon us, I figure to post the “answers” and let folks try to puzzle out the "questions".

Rather than have a full blown “official” game, I hope to just have a leisurely, fun time. No need to keep score and declare a winner, unless you’d like to do so for your own benefit. As if you’re watching the game on TV and “playing along at home”, just shout out your “questions” (post ‘em) and see how you do.

First correct post gets to “control the board” and select the next category and dollar amount. If nobody responds to a clue within, say 5 minutes, the players will have been deemed to have been stumped by the clue and the last correct responder will have control of the board and select the next clue.

I'm thinking about starting the fun on Monday, March 30th at around 10:00 or 10:30 am EST. No need to register as a player, per se… Just jump right in if you think you know the answer… erm… question (Yes, all responses must be in the form of a question). But, I'd like to know whether there'd be more than one or two "players" participating. So... Anyone interested in giving it a whirl (first to reply will get to choose our first clue)?

Check in on Monday when/if you're able. Even if you pop in mid "game" it's all for fun and you can try to answer any time. Or if you miss the entire game, it still might be fun to "read back" and see how you'd have done. :)

Just a few notes before the game begins…

Spoiler Alert!

Material in the game includes references up to and including ADWD. So, be aware of the potential for spoilers. Because of their nature, the trivia used is… well… trivial. Still, you’ve been forewarned.

If you are trying to keep score for your own purposes, here’s how it worked in our last game. The first correct posting earns the points for the clue. You should deduct for any incorrect postings BEFORE the first correct response. Once a correct response has been made, the clue is “finished” and subsequent correct OR incorrect postings should be ignored. Thus, there is no penalty for subsequent incorrect responses, nor points awarded for subsequent correct responses. Also, PLEASE only ONE response per player per clue. That is, if you guess wrong, don’t keep guessing. Such posts will be ignored.

Well, as neither Lady B nor Andromeda seem to be about, I'll randomly select a clue to get things started.

Music for 100. The Answer is:

This song is traditionally sung during weddings and beddings.

Jeopardy is a game show in America where they give you the answers and you have to guess what the question was. So all answers should be put in the form of a question. For the record my answer was only half-serious, as I'm pretty sure Rains being played at weddings is a new tradition. :D

Aha, thanks for the explanation. So I guess I have to answer by asking

"When is the song The Queen Took Off Her Sandal, The King Took Off His Crown usually played?"

You're correct, Buckwheat. :)

You control the board. Please select a category and amount.

Well, it's really Buckwheat's turn. But, as I'm outta here in a few minutes, I'll post another clue to keep things moving along. BTW, I'll allow a clue to stand for 24 hours before deciding it has stumped everyone. It'll give others in times zones around the world to have a go at it. :)

Music for 200.

The answer is:

This song was first performed at the wedding of Joffrey and Margaery. Tyrion thought it a likely winner.

What is "Lord Renly's Ride" (if correct, Music for 300)

Bronn! Welcome back to Jeopardy. :)

You are correct. And a marvelous idea to help move the game along... If everyone could add in their desired selection with their responses, that would be great.

Now, then, Music for 300. The answer is:

The mate of the titular lady of this song has a blade made of black steel.
