  1. Eeek yeah that would be sexism. Serena is definitely one of the greatest if not the greatest player of all time. Doesn’t matter that she wouldn’t crack the top fifty of men. It’s like saying that Floyd Mayweather is not one of the greatest boxers ever because if you put him up against heavyweights he wouldn’t win a match. In the category she’s in she is clearly the best all time.
  2. Chiefs defence being strong was not really a surprise. Their ppg was less than a point behind baltimores. If the ravens had this great defence so did the chiefs. And Mahomes > Jackson. (Reid > Harbaugh too, why did the best running team in the league not run it?)
  3. Yeah I think the coronation of Jackson was a bit premature. He still can’t get over the hump. And while Mahomes didn’t turn it over Baltimore’s defence adjusted and gave Lamar a shot which well he didn’t take opportunity of.
  4. And on scoring defence Baltimore was like .5 or so points ahead of KC and much more dependent on turnovers. Mahomes just doesn’t turn the ball over in big games.
  5. Jackson and his team have five first downs. Mahomes is 20/25 and they get the ball back in the second half. Baltimore and Jackson just aren’t in Mahomes league. We’ll see if they can second half adjust again, but KC is a much tougher team than Houston.
  6. If they’re complaining about the defence complain to whomever traded Jrue for Lillard. Lillard is a turnstile it’s no surprise their backcourt can’t defend.
  7. Odd to fire a coach with the team at 30-13. Guessing he’s lost the dressing room. Wonder if Ham is next.
  8. I am waiting for proof of these physical play injuries as compared to non physical play. For example look at https://www.complex.com/sports/a/elias-ahmed/the-25-best-nba-careers-ruined-by-injury Not a lot in there from physical play. Yes physical play has a cost and it sure cost players some missed games. But not seeing much signs physical play ended anyone’s careers.
  9. I just don’t think your theory on physical play shortening careers has much merit. Sure it was more physical and that had a cost back then. You can see the same thing with hockey and football that were also previously more physical. But that doesn’t mean that players now in sports last longer because as contact has gone down the number of non contact injuries have gone up. I don’t recall in the 90s many football players running down the open field and just blowing out their knee, yet this happens all the time in the NFL now. I would theorize that the number of injured 90s basketball got from tough play was balanced out by the static nature of 90s hoops that led to less movement injuries.
  10. And none of those above players had their careers ended early. Ewing and Robinson both had long careers, at 17 and 14 respectively. Shaq almost went 20. Partly it’s because going both tall and big has a large toll on the body., more so than the average NBA height player. Sure those players got banged up but we’re remarkably healthy in spite of it. But if we’re talking about chronic injuries that ended careers early then big men are way more predominant and that is not because of physical play. It is generally because the body is not build to handle supporting that much height and weight. It is why you see far more foot injuries with bigger players. Do you recall many 6’6” or less players with foot injuries? Not really. Modern game should help because there won’t be the pressure to bulk up as much so you’ll see more tall gangly types. But it also doesn’t help because modern game has far more movement and athleticism which puts those players at risk more.
  11. Even back then, Walton for example didn’t have issues because of physical play. His body just couldn’t handle it and he had chronic foot injuries. Odens knees gave out. Samson was never the same after his knee gave out. Yao Ming as well with foot injuries. Webbers knee, etc. Big Z with feet again. None of these big men had their careers ended by “physical” play.
  12. Most big men in the league with injury issues is not because of the banging or physical play. It’s because human bodies just don’t work as well at those extreme ends. For example classic issues with feet and big men. Also with more speed than ever in todays game more of a chance of knee and Achilles injuries.
  13. KD also has been injured a fair deal the second half of his career. I doubt both big men stay healthy their career. Heck Chet already missed a year.
  14. Awards season is going to be a joke this year. Clearly their carrot is not working but they’ll keep trying it. I don’t think it’s a good idea long run to devalue your own awards system.
  15. Well if you want to say that is second tier then my point is that Tua is third tier. Like I would rate him about 16 out of the 32 starting QBs in the league.
  16. Anyone who thought Miami had a shot here was probably too fixated on them beating trash teams. Sure they have some speed but at the end of the day Tua is a second tier qb.
  17. It’s not that quite cut and dried. James went through a 1-2 year period in 21/22 where if you compare the number of drives he was taking vs the number of FTA he was getting it looked like he was not getting the benefit of star calls.
  18. Washington I guess has a really bad run defense. Wonder why the ducks weren’t able to exploit that more but Washington is being carved up now.
  19. I don’t know but for me avatar had far more last appeal than Endgame. Like both were good movies and maybe Endgame is a slightly better movie but with Downey and Evans going out it was always a downer of a movie in the end helping to doom anything after to being inferior. And we’ve all seen how the last 3-4 years of Marvel has gone while avatar keeps trucking on. Also we’re a distinctly NA audience and I think avatar has more worldwide appeal.
  20. So greens suspension ended up being 12 games plus a couple more as he gets back into game action. Doesn’t honestly feel enough and I expect this isn’t the last of the dumb stuff he does.
  21. I never liked rolling either in parties for real games. Just breeds resentment or jealousy between players who got good/bad rolls. For a comp game that matters less ofc but I can see why the source material (d20 stat systems) went away from it and off the video games are going to follow suit.
  22. No I actually don’t mind Michigan most of the time. Always preferred them over Ohio State and like them more than most big ten programs. It’s just that for a while the pac has been joked about and we’ll now after this year it’s basically dead. So of course I want my conference to go to out on top. It’s the same for hockey. I’m a flames fan but I still want Canada to win the Stanley cup again so I would not root against a Canadian team in the finals. I think Kal fits your quote much more than me. Never been that into being a fan other than baseball.
  23. I am an Oregon fan by marriage so yeah I don’t like Washington. But there is no way I’m rooting for Michigan over them.
  24. Hoping pac comes out on top for the last championship game for the conference.
  25. Washington doing their best to choke this game away. Just too conservative on offence there given how their defence is doing.
