In my experience I would say it’s more common for women to just not change their name after marriage than it is to hyphenate -

1508 votes in the end. The left wing anti-war pro-Palestine independent got almost 70k and came third -

This seems to be completely incorrect, BBC is forecasting Khan with 43% and Hall on 33%. The close race is the West Midlands and whether the independent has taken enough votes from Labour to allow Street to hold on. -

There’s a rumour floating around that Labour think they may have lost the West Midlands mayoral race because Muslim voters angry about their Gaza policy have voted for the independent (Galloway endorsed) candidate -

From what they said on the radio this morning, he isn’t even someone who arrived on a boat, when the main selling point of the Rwanda policy is to stop the boats -

I’m not sure if she’s really relevant to the discussion when she competed as a man and didn’t transition until well after she’d retired. -

That puts the police response into a lot more reasonable position. In other news, Huw Edwards has now resigned from the BBC on medical advice, having been suspended for several months because of the sexting allegations -

From what I read it was a bit more than just the “visibly Jewish” wording, apparently the officer threatened to arrest him because being “visibly Jewish” near a pro-Palestine march is “causing a breach of the peace”. -

It sounds like a lot of those complaints are either from people who don’t understand the new law, or opponents of the law deliberately making fake complaints (like the one the minister mentions which someone had made using her name). Presumably that’ll drop off in a week or so once the news cycle moves on. -

Sunak has already ruled out a May election, I can’t see him doing a U turn on that especially since the Rwanda bill is still going ping-pong between Commons and Lords. He’ll want to get that passed and if possible flights actually started before he goes to the Palace. -

I think he’d have to get rid of Harry permanently for that, simply living abroad doesn’t disqualify him. But if that does happen then the only solution is for Anne to raise a rebellion. -
So I binged Prodigy this week, and it’s really good. Better story arc than any of Picard’s three seasons, some great performances (especially John Noble) and a finale which didn’t feel like they were cheating or pulling a resolution out of thin air. I struggle to understand why it got cancelled. It also includes Janeway making a reference to being a salamander.
