, Gabriel becomes the central CB which he is not suited for.

I'll take that over whatever we're getting with Partey on the right. So many times he's on the right channel behind Saka with nowhere to go & no one to pass to, I don't think we're getting anything from Partey inverting. It's also possible for us to try and play a game without inverting one of the full backs.

And I know Timber was fit pre-season, but we never once played a game with Gabriel on the bench.

Agreed that everyone was pretty poor first half ( except maybe Rice).

We had so many situations in the first half like you said - Kai should have had a tap in, Odegaard & Martinelli shooting straight at Leno.

It's just not good enough defensively at home, and it was similar last season.

I don't think it helps that our team has essentially been disrupted on both sides with Partey & Havertz

  2. Giving away completely soft goals & then dropping off after taking the lead

Making the same mistakes as last season

Partey on the right has disrupted our very good right side from last season & I don't really think it's worked.

Viera looked good though and will displace Kai if the latter's performances don't get better.

We're asking Saliba to do a lot of work and you have to wonder why Gabriel is on the bench given the way we've been defending

  3. Quote
“I missed the stupid hair pull at Chelsea versus Tottenham which was pathetic from my point of view,” Dean told Up Front with Simon Jordan.

“It’s one of them where if I had my time again, what would I do? I’d send Anthony [Taylor] to the screen. I think I knew if I did send him to the screen … he’s cautioned both managers, he’s had a hell of a game, it’s been such a tough game end to end.
“I said to Anthony afterwards: ‘I just didn’t want to send you to the screen after what has gone on in the game’. I didn’t want to send him up because he is a mate as well as a referee and I think I didn’t want to send him up because I didn’t want any more grief than he already had.

This must be some sort of performance art

I think it’s nothing and he will stay with us this year and play lots of games. Can’t see any path where we play Zinchenko at LB and not have Gabriel next to him.

    hope you're right

i think against fulham zinny will start so we should hopefully see gabriel too

i'm probably worrying too much about all the noise. i just want to keep our good players

  5. Curious what is going on re: Gabriel at arsenal

Gunnerblog said it's not all tactical from what he is hearing on the recent arsecast and also I think it's unlikely to be tactical *only* as we didn't really try the current way we are playing pre-season

I hope we don't sell him because he has been very good for the last 2 seasons - I think there probably is *some* pressure to sell players given that we haven't managed to sell people like Pepe, Nuno, Flo yet

Someone saying 'I'm having trouble watching this' is not gatekeeping. On the other hand, someone* earlier in this topic distinctly implied that if you're not a fan of the Filoniverse it's weird to be a fan of any Star Wars. That's gatekeeping.

    *you. It was you.

Yeah, I don't find any of the Filoni stuff enjoyable and never have, but count myself as a fairly big star wars fan and have enjoyed lots of the other stuff.

I guess S1 Mandalorian is the thing that came closest, it was fine and I'd classify it as a 6 or 7/10 show which was good but not spectacular.

The notion that discipline/misconduct in workplaces isn't affected by race is so bizarre as to not be worth discussing.

Correct. It's also borne out in the Medical Workforce data of all trusts in the UK. The Doctors union is also going to put a vote of no confidence in our regulator because of the disproportionate rates of investigation & outcomes for BAME staff

I've been watching The Good Wife  for the first time (for some reason) and the biggest plot hole throughout whole thing is the supposition anyone in the world cares THAT much about a state's attorney (or about lawyers in general. or about state attorney's wives). I don't even know what states attorneys really do and I've watched 5 seasons.

Otherwise, surprisingly entertaining. What's interesting for me is how it straddles the time period before and after the rise of super-smart phones and social media and streaming. It ran throughout the time I was in high school through college graduation and it's kind of vertigo inducing to watch so quickly the evolution of technology/society during that time.

It can be uneven, but it's a pretty good show. I prefer it to something like Suits which is..not good.

 Fuck off, you were already complaining about referees before I posted.

I meant I wouldn't *still* be talking about it if not for your post

As for talking about refs - almost everyone who posted about the game on the board commented on it because it was *at best* a controversial decision which then directly affected the rest of the game :dunno:
