  1. I want to second this because maybe I came off too harsh. Really the question is best answered with like a list of shows you think are better than it, so you can watch the ones you haven't seen. Here is a totally not exhaustive tiered list. I'm sure I'm forgetting some, and this is only drama or a mix. So no Always Sunny or other shows I love. The Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood, Bojack Horseman Six Feet Under, The Leftovers, Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, Succession, Atlanta, Barry Rome, The Deuce, Watchmen, The Americans, Station Eleven, Carnivale, Treme, Twin Peaks Fargo, Justified, Mr Robot, True Detective Hannibal, Person of Interest
  2. Barry was great tonight:
  3. It comes down to how much time you have to watch TV, and maybe what else you haven't seen yet. I'd lean towards "no" though. It's not a bad show by any means but it's nowhere near what you've been watching, and peaks early and then sorta piddles out to a very weak ending. Ironically it's one of the few shows Netflix didn't cancel prematurely and if they had I'd probably have a higher opinion of it.
  4. Doesn't help that the story, such as it is, is not over. Like five main characters are continuing on in three other projects.
  5. apparently he could be the new superman. edit: Luthor, not superman. he would be a good clark though.
  6. Really it cratered because AMC didn't want to spend money on it, so Darabont left. It's crazy, for a bit it seemed like AMC might become one of the prestiege tv networks. But they were so damn cheap. It's a minor miricle Mad Men didn't have to continue on shittily without its creator. The Great is great, looking forward to season three.
  7. Going back to that mailed clues thing I posted before the last episode:
  8. That's pretty funny. You'd think doing a google image search and using the first thing that came up without looking to what it was or who made it would be frowned upon.
  9. I'm curious to see how this does when it comes out. I stuck with the parent show far longer than most people I know, and even I haven't bothered to finish it yet. I can't imagine this is going to be very popular, and they probably had to pay Morgan a lot for it.
  10. I got boxed in early in Stellaris. Something that doesn't happen a lot. I always try to expand as much as possible for those strategic resources. At first I was annoyed but now I'm enjoying the opportunity to go tall instead of wide for once. I love that the new leaders system has all your research overseen by one scientist. Moving them around so their specialties matched the thing you were researching was always a little "micro-managey." On the other hand, I don't like that the leader cap is back. My last two games I had like seven science ships on auto-explore (love that you no longer have to research this, and that they've expanded it to include researching projects and anomalies.) and then would make more as needed for archeology. Doesn't seem like that will be practical anymore. I'm curious to hear more about Zelda. I don't think I'm going to get to it for a looong time, as I've been working my way through the series and am currently still stuck in the water temple in Ocarina of Time. After Majora's Mask I may skip ahead to Breath of the Wild, and then go back after those two games. It's mildly amusing to me that this incredibly anticipated game is finally out and I'm playing yet another round of Stellaris instead.
  11. Alright, so it was an "out of universe" thing. Again I can't imagine why it would matter, but I was curious.
  12. I guess the real reason they attacked Florida was because it had been established Trip was from there and they wanted him to have lost someone in the attack. Doesn't make sense in universe, but whatever. I have a probably pointless question. I remember reading that in TOS (which I've only watched all of once, don't really care for it) they would go to like "warp 13" and then starting with TNG they recalibrated the scale so 10 was the "existing everyone at once/turn into a salamander" limit. Is that an in-universe change or a real world retcon? My question, which again really doesn't matter, is is the NX-01 Enterprise's "warp 5 engine" the same as when Picard would order them to go to warp 5. or is it more like what TNG would call warp 2?
  13. I'll second that Kill List is really good. Probably better if you don't know much about what kinda movie it is going in. I haven't seen anything else he did though. Edit: If I were an acclaimed serious director who didn't take himself too seriously, I'd jump at a chance to make B-movie with a huge budget. Might be a lot of fun. Even if the movie is trash, I don't think anyone will really blame Wheatly?
  14. Oh hey, any idea why they ditched Gil Eavas? Nate was working for someone else now. I had assumed the election was between him and the Nazi. I could have easily missed a line saying Gil's campaign imploaded or something.
  15. Got up to the Xinidi attack in Enterprise. What a weird plan they had. They want to eradicate humanity so they fire a big laser at ...the tip of florida and cuba? like half of it just hits water, and now they've now revealed themselves and their intentions. Like why not test the thing on some closer planet and wait until you have a proper death star ready to go after Earth?
  16. I'll have to try broken shackles next. I did "on the shoulders of giants" and then I forget the name but the one where you start with two planets and one of them doesn't want to explore space. They were alright. I'm curious if the unique events always play out the same way or if there are variations.
  17. That dude was great. The series of messages about how he'd like to kill those bolivians was so funny. I don't know why we never had a Barry thread, it seems like a lot of us like it. Seems odd to start one now with three episodes to go.
  18. I noticed I don't even watch the trailers anymore. Spider-Man was the last time I couldn't just wait for the Disney+ release. I'm still invested in the universe, I've no doubt I'll watch the trailers for the next Avengers and go see it. They've had a meh run of movies but the TV stuff has been mostly quite enjoyable. I loved the Werewolf thing, do more one off weird shit like that.
  19. Oh they have a mother, and she is something else. The oldest kid Conner has a different mother than the other three though. I think it can be very funny. Dark comedy, but still funny. Like a lot of shows I think it takes a bit to really figure out what it is and gets funnier as it goes along. I think of it like The Sopranos. A drama with some really good humor often mined from terrible situations. I don't think she could though. Logan could, but she's not Logan and doesn't have that kinda influence over him. If she tried to tell him how to run his network at that point I think she'd just get a "fuck off."
  20. Just watched. I'm most curious about Apparently they also mail viewers clues? First I've heard of it but I saw this:
