GOODKIND V

Werthead

Recommended Posts

He is always discussing details and never answering the real important questions like why Richard kills unarmed peace protestors and kicks a little spoiled girl's face; or why Goodkind has the "good" guys endorse torture and uses strange plot devices like chickens that are not chickens and noble goats, just to name a few.

I think that these points could lead to interesting discussions but instead what we have is endless bickering about Goodkind not stealing a few pages from Jordan and his career as blurb writer.

Goodkind is badly served with a supposed follower like this one.

In all fairness, he did respond to our complaints about the little girl being kicked in an earlier thread. Granted, no one accepted his explanation, but at least he tried.

Elrostar, look within the paradox of the contradictory points mystar makes and you will see the humour.

I'll give it another try and attempt to see the deeper, underlying humour. Perhaps now that the way has been shown by a noble goat, I can hope to find the true meaning in these various complicated posts ;)

While searching for a good Quote of the Day I stumbled upon the acknowledgements in Stone of Tears: I would like to thank my editor, James Frenkel, for having the integrity to settle for no less than my best effort. :lmao: He also gives thanks for the "outstanding cover art" (I thought he hated what went on his covers as "too fantasy" or something. Oh well, Quote of the Day to come a bit later.

Bleeding heck, I'm away for a day and all hell breaks loose!

QOTD:

with an extra: :tantrum: for the impossibility of the actions...

Mystar - there are numerous WoT threads on this board and a whole forum (Wotmania) for the discussion of Mr Jordan... this is a Goodkind thread - hardly the place to be looking too closely at Jordan. Why not start a thread to discuss your views on Jordan with his fans? I'm sure they would welcome a friendly discussion.

and Mormont - TOP NOTCH mate!

Please note there is no sarcasm in my point here... Goodkind has stated he doesn't red Fantasy as a rule, and he doesn't. He has in some years past read few books form the genera, but nothing in a good number of years. As for Kirsten, well guess what! Terry helped her write her first two books. Like it or not, Kirsten and Terry are friends and have been for a good long time. That being said, Terry, as well as most Authors are hounded by publishers and authors to write a paragraph or two. The publisher sends the new book out and asks the author to please review said book and also please include a blurb. In fact Terry was asked to write a paragraph for R Scott Bakker and Jacqueline Carey to name a few. This is common practice within the industry. I urged Terry to write one for Jacqueline Carey as she is a good personal friend of mine, but he was hunkered down writing and didn't get it in on time. The fact that someone writes a blurb is supposed to mean the read the book but that too is a rarity.

Well personally I feel that it's cheating if the author hasn't read it. If I see a blurb by Jordan for example Carey, than I expect him to have read it. The same with goodkind. It might happen more, but i think if an author is honest than he will only give a quite if he read it.

Ahhh RJ is the only one allowed to have humor then? My post was frock full of it... as is a great many of Goodkind's...

I didn’t say Jordan was/is incapable of portraying good or even great female characters. I simply was poking fun at the obvious humor Jordan placed within his blog.

It seemed more like making Jordan ridiculous to me. And if that was the case, i would say you are not that different from the people here. You also make fun of authors, if you think they have said something weird. And you rallied against this at this board and other boards. And now you are doing it yourself. (not that a little bit fun is wrong)

Oh and I have never said that the female goodkind characters aren't realistic. I am sure they are, but theydon't work for everyone.

I think that in order for it to qualify as hell breaking loose, it has to have not already broken loose. I think this happened some time ago on this thread

But yes, this last QOTD is quite... precious :) As has been the exchange between mystar and various people.

Translation, that's "your" assumption and yours "alone". It has no basis, it has no merit, and it is simply speculation on your part. I've had a few conversations with Tom Doherty on this very subject. I can assure you Jordan was not implying that. It has nothing to do with legal anything. Surly if you've read Jordan long enough, if he meant to say that he would have. Please leave your assumptions out of matters.

Well, I don't know. You say you talked to Tom Doherty, but Tom isn't RJ. So you wouldn't know what RJ would think or why he would say things.

And how would you know that he would have said it? Have you actually met RJ a couple of times?

Maybe we should point out one of the several Jordan-threads to MyStar, to show what we think of Jordan. I mean, a "discussion" between MyStar and Os (if he were still around) would truly be something to behold. :D

And from what I've seen of Mystar on the boards he posts on (other than his own), he seldom tries to adress the more serious posts and instead focuses on the more non-serious posts (for lack of a better word).

Wow, of all the crazy shit I've seen about Goodkind, I think this interview is the worst....

1. "there is a great aversion in the world today to clarity"

2. If you dabble in drugs you are a party to murder.

3. the number 1 principal of Objectivism is "Existence exists "

4. Ayn Rand is the greatest philospher since Aristotle and in many ways is better....

5. "Someone once told me that Wizard's First Rule had the greatest one-word sex scene ever written [laughs]. "

6. He has "I have young people writing letters to me saying "Oh my God! Kahlan was being mean to Richard! How could she do that!" "

7. "the only valid use of fantasy is to illustrate important human themes"

If Goodkind had written LOTR....

- Eowyn confronts the Witch King, and decides to have sex with him as it's the only way to beat him. She seduces him by saying his mother was a balrog.

- Frodo is the long-lost son of Sauron, who is Gandalf's estranged brother.

- Bill the Pony is really a goat

- One thing to rule them all, one thing to bind them...

Quick! Look for this guy James! He needs serious help!

Item no. 4: What. The. Hell. (You're wrong. It's Machiavelli. :P)

Item no. 5: I have a sneaking suspicion who said that to him.... And is it possible to have a one-word sex scene?

I see nothing wrong with that. After all, the picture of a dragon on my wall is my six-year-old daughter's best effort: whether it's any good or not, well... ;)

Don't sell your daughter short there :) It may not be able to bring the tears of laughter that TG can, certainly, but you know... she can perfect her technique over time.

On a more serious note, did she draw it with two or four legs? :)

And how is that the greatest sex scene? TG boggles the mind...

Hmm, maybe not then. Grunt? Squelch? Boingggg? Aaaarrrrghhhhhh!? (the namble scene summed up)

Single word TG sex scene? "GrrratchluuugRaaaachaaarg!!!"

Aaah, MM, there I was thinking that my afternoon was looking uneventful. And you managed to make me almost snort coffee out my nose :)
