Stannis Iron Baratheon
Many people comment on how house Stark, Lannister, Frey etc... However has no one realized that house Baratheon is on a fast track to extinction? Stannis is the last living Baratheon male with only a daughter, if he dies without a son then the family name will die with him, and if his daughter dies then the line goes extinct except for a few bastards. What could be the possible hope for house Baratheon?
JonCon's Red Beard
Gendry, Eric and Mya. Mya and Eric are known bastards so the King can legitimise them in the sake of Baratheon's house.
joluoto2
House Baratheon is as good as dead. Stannis might get a throne for nothing.
Stormland's Fury
That's how Baratheons roll. But seriously either he could legitimise a bastard before his dead or can hope to produce another son when he's a bit more stable again. The man is still only in his 30's, even if physically a bit drained and he seems to bot have any personal grudge against Robert's bastards. The Drunkard
Robert's bastards can be legitimized, Shireen could have a matrilineal marriage, and a somewhat distant relative could take the name Baratheon instead of their own like one of the Northerners suggested for Hornwood (IIRC) in Clash. It's an issue all the great Houses bar the Tyrells and Lannisters seem to be facing, some more immediately than others.
Universal Sword Donor
Even if Stannis dies, it's not a huge deal. Whomever is chosen to be the new Lord of SE and the head of House Baratheon will just take the Baratheon last name. Harry the Heir is going to take his last name. Both Beren Tallhart and Larence Snow are put forth as potentials heir to House Hornwood, and they are both going to take the name if they are accepted. Stormland's Fury
He just seem like the person who's not exactly fond of bastards. But he doesn't hate them either, as he doesn't blame them for what they are but their fathers.

He needs an actual Lightbringer. Who better than the "love of his life" to help him provide it.

Skagosi High Chef
House Baratheon is definitely in jeopardy but Stannis can have more children, bastards can be legitimized, etc.

Yeah I wouldn't put all my Baratheon eggs in the Shireen basket in either way.

Universal Sword Donor
Is the greyscale likely to kill her? No according to Tyrion and the maesters, greyscale doesn't kill kids if it doesn't get them in the first swoop.
Ser Wilfred
I still think she is likely to be sacrificed by Mel to bring Jon back, since Selyse knows that Shireen can't further the Baratheon line, and she has faith in Mel
