cat-of-the-canals
So, I'm reading the first one right now, I'm on the part where Chiron tells Percy about his quest, and well I don't like it that much. It's ok, but, to me it seems like a Harry Potter wannabe. The main character is 12/11 and they're special, but they don't know about it until they turn a certain age, then they go to someplace with other people their age (Hogwarts/ Camp Half Blood), they have 2 best friends (Ron and Hermione/ Grover and Annabeth), they're split up into (houses/ cabins), and they have a rivals (Slytherin/ Cabin 5). I wouldn't say it's boring, it keeps me interested, but whenever I put it down I don't feel the need to pick it up again. So, if you have read it did you like? Does the book get any better? Also after this book does the series get better?
Larry of the Lawn
I thought he did a good job on the LOTR films, the Hobbit has been okay too. Will have to try his books one of these days.

Nicomo Cosca
I enjoyed the series. The first one was fun, the second one was good as well, then both the third and fourth were great! Those two books were deffinetly the best of the series. The fifth one was good but I thought it was the weakest (the final battle was looong and repetetive)

I already knew a lot about Greek mythology, so I think that probably added to my interest in the series. Of course, I was more a part of the target demographic when I read them, though, so I'm not sure how I'd feel after a re-read now.
Ser Yo of House Lo
They're a good series, a bit slow, and watered down, but a good series.

Gaston de Foix
The second iteration, Heroes of Olympus, is significantly worse than the original Percy Jackson story.
End of Disc One
The second iteration, Heroes of Olympus, is significantly worse than the original Percy Jackson story. I haven't read these books but I've heard the opposite

cat-of-the-canals
I finished the book and I decided I do like it  The second half was better than the first half and the Harry Potter similarities aren't that big of a deal either. They don't stand out unless you are actually searching for them, which I was at first.

Harry Potter is by far my favorite, epic and with good worldbuilding. Percy Jackson is not bad at all, though. It's a light and fun read.
Lol
They are completely unrealistic. I hate when my fantasy books aren't realistic
Game Of Thrones
I hate when my fantasy books aren't realistic Sarcasm? My point is that in ASOIAF or LOTR it's the author's world so he can choose what to do with it, so you can't really say something is unrealistic. In Percy Jackson it's supposed to be our world, which makes the lack of reaction that monsters make, for instance, unrealistic. HP dealt with that better (Muggles dying of monoxide poisoning) at least.
The Drunkard
I remember reading some of these, and they could be quite (unintentionally, I think) funny. Like Percy fighting one of the gods, and then that fight looking like two guys sparring with shotguns to the general public. :drunk:
TheLastStark
Once you've finished the Percy Jackson series, start the Heros of Olympus, it picks up right where Percy Jackson left off, and I think is even better because it reads more like aSoIaF where its POV from 7 characters if I recall correctly
