Deed
Hey... Despite GRRM's amazingly descriptive writing, is there anything from the series that you could never quite picture in your head? I suppose the show may have helped (I appreciated seeing the geography of castle black in ep 9) Some of the art is truly amazing and far surpassed my imagining of some of the characters/ locations etc. What about you ?! Northernmonkey
All the stuff with Arya and the changing faces. There's no way I can picture that without it looking stupid.
HexMachina
The Nights Watchmen firing arrows from the top of the Wall with any degree of accuracy was hard to visualise, without significantly decreasing the size of the wall...
RoamingRonin
The Gischari hair styles.
Galaxian
Every time he starts on scenery I simply tune out. It's not GRRM fault, I have always had the problem.
Johnnyrocket
alot of the wild clothes that the people of Slaver's Bay wear. GRRM would get real descriptive of their hairstyles and clothes, but I always had trouble imagining how wild they actually looked. I pretty much had a general view in my head similar to Varys from the show after I started watching the show
Julia Martell
I have trouble with relative distances and the size of land masses in general. And stuff like, "The Iron Islands combined are about the size of Ireland" just confuses me more.
Galaxian
I have trouble with relative distances and the size of land masses in general. And stuff like, "The Iron Islands combined are about the size of Ireland" just confuses me more. I have a similar problem but it was due to the show. It made the distance between Winterfell and King's Landing appear very short.
Hos the Hostage
I can visualize buildings, landscapes, food etc, but never the faces of people. I just have some vague idea. The show shaped most of my character perceptions. But somehow the Arya in my mind is thinner than Maisie, Jon's face more like Ben Barnes, Mance Rayder younger than Ciaran Hinds, Oberyn with a widow's peak and long dark hair and very different from Pedro Pascal, etc. But these are the few examples. The rest I just note to self as 'Sansa-pretty girl, Hot Pie-fat, Ned-noble face, Jaime-handsome knight' etc. I never pictured them.
Good Guy Garlan
Everything with ships battling other kinds of ships kind of makes me tune out, like Vic's chapters. Guess I'm not a very nautical person

Fai
I have trouble visualizing almost everything. Watching the TV show doesn't help.
Revan the Butcher
Knights sigils and armour. All the descriptions make very little sense in my head.
Snowisnobastard
For some reason I couldn't visualize mereen. I have mental images of braavos and a few other places in essos, but I could never get a decent grasp on mereen.
Hutch
Anytime Essos comes up, my mind pictures a creepy carnival. Flamboyance everywhere, bears riding bikes, clowns and crappy carnival music, shitty foods sold everywhere, etc.
Brandon Umber
I hate colors. Not the visual aspect but the different names. I don't know what the fuck sable is.
Julia Martell
Daario Naharis. Dude, word. I don't blame to show for this one.
Veltigar
Anything related to feet or stones. I know it wouldn't be very realistic for a fantasy world to use the metric system, but I'd be willing to give him a pass on that.
Lord Orys
The entire setup of The Wall and Castle black, and how they kind of were joined together but not really and the southern wall was missing or something. It always really confused me.
Zagardal
Daario Naharis. Same here. Dany going from Drogo to Daario is baffling some times.
