Roundhead
GRRM uses food quite a lot to set the ambience of certain scenes and to give us a sense of the time and culture of his world. Elisabeth Chadwick also does this to great effect in her books but as a reinactor and student of medieval cookery her references are genuine and can be recreated, GRRM obviously has liscense to be a bit more creative but the food he talks about always as a real similar, genuine feel to it.I was wondering if anyone has tried some of the dishes that GRRM refers to.I have recently tried Black Pudding (blood sausage) with Leeks which he refers to in aDwD and it works REALLY well!I had only had Black Pudding with Bacon and Eggs as part of an English breakfast before but it was great with Leeks!I don't expect anyone to have had charcoaled unborn puppys on a stick but what about the less "exotic" dishes? The hairy bear
The girls who run the Inn at the Crossroad have published a book of recipes titles "Feast of Ice and Fire". For my cooking abilities, their recipes are a bit too difficult. But the pictures of their works look amazing.

Dornish Vinegar
I can vouch for the quality of the blog and the cookbook! It's silly but it's helped me learn to cook a lot better. The beans and bacon, leek soup, and mulled wine are to die for. So delicious.
