Pilusmagnus
Robb's guards and squires Perwyn, Olyvar and Alesander, to loyal to Stark to be told about Red Wedding. Good call. I wonder why these three are decent since being an asshole seems to be in the Frey genes or something. Even the young Elmar is a prick. It's quite amazing. Leonardo
There are a number of them. Big walder, merrett Frey, probably most of the children...The idea that a people are wholly evil is kind of the antithesis of one of asoiafs main themes. Pilusmagnus
Big Walder is not as big an asshole as Little Walder, but he's still a quite terrible kid. Merrett seems sympathetic because we get to read his POV, but he participated in the Red Wedding so he doesn't count as decent. We don't know about the children, but the three we know about are downright cunts.
Leonardo
Ned Stark has been hiding the true heir to the iron throne, defying all of his friends and his king to do so, and probably planting the seeds for the next big war, and he's a good guy? Mladen
Believe it or not, being a dick is not a gene... I am certain that there are many Freys who are not Walder-like (character-wise).

How did hiding Jon provoke the War of the Five Kings in any way? And how is this relevant in this topic?

How Ned planted a seed for the next war when his plan was always to keep Jon away from all occurrences? He even sent him to NW.

Mladen
Not a gene, but perhaps they are raised that way. I am not sure about that. We have seen that not entire clan of Freys have participated in RW. Plus, I can bet that a lot of them didn't know about RW.

Mladen
Only three of them actually, mentioned above. Only three were mentioned. That doesn't mean that they are the only ones. Do you actually believe that every single Frey was aboard with this? That every woman and child were part of it?

But my point is: every adult Frey was involved in it except these three, and all the children that have been mentioned so far are pricks.

I am certain that most of them were. But I am not sure about every one of them being part of it. But then again, they needed an army to win the Northerners, so the percentage is really high. Robinvanpersie
these freys would’ve been raised a certain way, and to hold certain character traits more important than others - namely, self-advancement at all cost, due to the fact that Late Walder Frey has lots of wives and lots of kids, and each one has to compete with each other for attention and opportunities for advancement. They know that family isn’t always trustworthy, and indeed, can stand in your way to survival. So as a whole, they’ve probably been raised to believe that it’s ok to turn on your liege lord if it gets you a better deal.
Lowborn
You asked whether there were any Frey that were not a complete dick. If the question was if there were good persons, the list, from what we know, would be pretty short. As the question stands:Perwyn, Olyvar, Big Walder, Merrett, Amerei (I do not count debauchery as dickishness), Roslin (she is not innocent, but has since RW embraced her Tully identity), Alesander. And these are just the ones we know, I'm sure there are lots of decent or could-be-decents among the Freys. Lady Stoneheart is not a good character. Lady Stoneheart is not a good character. :agree: Catelyn was a good person, a loving mother and wife, a shrewd diplomat (with failings, of course, she was human), embracing the Tully credo of family, duty, honor to the core. Lady Stoneheart is none of these things, human included, she's vengeance personified, even if enough of Catelyn's memories remain to focus that vengeance mostly against the Freys and others that she thinks harmed her family. Anythingatall
Big Walder is not as big an asshole as Little Walder, but he's still a quite terrible kid. I think that's unfair. Big Walder could be a bit of a div (completely typical kid) but when he changed hands to the Boltons I think his true character shines through. He is in an atmosphere were cruelty isn't just tolerated it's rewarded, his cousin embraces it and it's not like he comes from a family where honour and fairness are held in high regard.
