See https://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Aegon_Targaryen_(son_of_Rhaegar) . After the killlings in King's Landing, that Aegon VI's face was battered unrecognizable, seems to started speculation that that body was not that of Aegon VI but that of some commoner or lower-rank noble child, and that the real Aegon VI had been smuggled away alive and hidden somewhere safe. Is that speculation within canon?

No the kid is dead.

I like the storyline but I really find it hard to believe it is actually Rhaegar's son. However, Rhaegar may have had another hint hint.

Rhaegar is a Faceless man. Why help Arya? Unless she is his niece. Rhaegar terrible father and husband, but decent Uncle.

This is the story that Varys presents in canon and that Aegon and his crew believe. Whether it's true or not is up for debate.

There are several or many fan-fiction continuations of the story, including many on Youtube, including many written by readers/viewers who were not satisfied with the TV series's Series 8. In some of those. Jon Snow survives all hazards and becomes Jon Targaryen, king of Westeros. But in the latest book published so far, A Dance with Dragons, Chapter 69, Jon XIII, he is stabbed in a fort on the Wall, but not yet known whether fatally.

If the events described in https://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Aegon_Targaryen_(son_of_Rhaegar) prove to be true in the world of the book story, it seems that the baby who should have become King Aegon VI is still alive and now grown to a man. If so, it may be that GRRM has planned this Aegon VI to be next king after everything is settled and the long story comes to its dénouement. (I wonder if he will wed Daenerys Targaryen?)

As his mother is Elia Martell, it may be that he is also heir to the throne of Dorne, and if so, the seven kingdoms are united at last.

It will be next to impossible to prove to the people who he is.  After all, the world believed him dead for many years.  And now, when Westeros is in chaos, he comes out of the shadows and makes a bold claim.  Very suspicious.
