Dragon Age: Origins thread II

Tobin, I'm working on just this (see my post that I just wrote, we were probably posting at the same time). ALL of the banter, however, is in separate files. Like, as in, each line of speech.

I have them (except for a few stragglers that I can't ID where they go) separated into folders, but I have to string them together into one cohesive mp3 file for each conversation. Once I'm done I'll PM you :)

AWESOME! I will sing your praises every time his snarky voice rolls out of my headphones!

Though that sucks about having to string everything together again - makes sense in a way, but must have been a pain to program.

Oooh. Let me know too, would you?

Honestly, it was probably more trying to make what we're trying to do more difficult. If they were just straight-up mp3 files, it wouldn't deter most people from swiping them. Little did they know what kind of monsters they were creating... the female geek is not to be toyed with! :D

Yags, will do!

I just had some dialogue between Zeveran and Oghrin last night which more or less expanded on Oghrin's introduction on how the heresay about him is he pisses ale.. and apparently bottles and drinks it too. Oghrin and Shale had a few good ones too until I ended up killing Shale.

Much love for the voice acting and writing.

I had 3 days off last week and played this game until my thumbs bled (XBOX 360) I'm an elven mage and I LOVE how some of the battles are really hard. It's awesome to have to stop and actually think about your strategies for fighting. I've done the Tower Quest, The Redcliffe/Urn of Sacred Ashes quest, and The Woodland Elves, working on the dwarves now. I can't wait for work to end!

Not getting as much time to play as id like. My Mage is close to done with the main story, my rogue battles have gotten easier, and i started a third play thru as a bitter castless dwarven fighter.

One thing im not liking about this game is the loot. its terrible. i love bringing my useless rogue companion (on my mage playthru) along everywhere i go just in case that locked chest contains real loot and not my 50th Small Elm Shield.

The game did manage to confuse the hell out of me in the final chapter with the loot it was giving, I got a fairly large amount of gold and I was like why the hell is it giving me gold at this late stage, and then BAM a shop that has a lot of health and mana potions and not just lesser etc, greater and freaking potent.

Now can anyone else confirm this, after I completed the game on my warrior I decided to get a mage going and my plan was to go asap to the Elven forest to unlock Arcane Warrior, but when I hit 7 in Lothering it was already unlocked.

So is this a bug in my game or does unlocks for specialisations carry over to whatever character you make next?

The specializations carry over to subsequent playthroughs (it's not very logical, but Bioware has confirmed that this is the intended behavior).

As Altherion stated it carries over due to those unlocks you can review in your player profile. This is slightly exploitable in the fact you can unlock a spec then reload to before whatever you did to unlock it and still have the specialization unlocked.. although I guess if they designed it like that on purpose it's not a true exploit.

Actually it can be at least at one point - in the Fade you meet a desire demon that'll let you choose between a number of rewards for not killing her. One is a specialization, so you can choose that, reload to before choosing, then choose something else, and thus get both.

Jesus sufferin' Christ. Get over Torment. There's enough Torment stroking around these forums to gag a horse. Its over, you may or may not see its like again.

And you don't need to get involved in all the hype, i just thought you would have seen a game preview somewhere.

Yeah, you can do the same trick with the Soul Eater spec for Warriors.

SPOILER: Alistair
WOOT! Virgin no more! :D

This triggers some of the best banter of the whole game. Did you ask him, or did you hold out for the "head exploding" conversation where he asks you?

@Tobin & Odie,

You two are cracking me up. I wish I liked the female romance options as much as you two love Alistair. Sadly Morrigan while being snarky enough for me is a bit too cutthroat, and the other is just too outright religious and not practical enough for my taste.

Guess my characters will just romance vicariously through Oghrin's escapades.

I did both - got ahead of myself the first time, asked, got shot down. So I managed to convince myself to be patient and let him come to me. I figured I needed 90+, so when I found the Onyx statue that would kick me over, I got a big grin.

It was worth it! so cute seeing him nervous, .

Unfortunately - I didn't keep Zevran, so I'll miss out on some of those conversations.

I have a 'save' with Zev (I choked when I lost 10pts with Alistair for inviting him, so I reloaded), I'll see how that route plays out after I finish this one.

Morrigan feels too... Constructed? To me. But Leliane feels awesome. She's like if Harley Quinn who turned into Jeanne d'Arc.
