[Book Spoilers] EP106 Discussion

Who says Roz showing up in the books would have anything to do with the plot? Maybe she'll be a whore Arya meets in Braavos

And it also could mean that Roz will ride one of Dany's dragons and become queen whore of the seven kingdoms.

The goblet is half empty dammit!

Do we hate Roz because we genuinely hate the character or because she is a deviation from canon?

It's worse because we know what we are missing, but I'd say even if we hadn't read the books, there are other more interesting characters whose character arc we'd rather see unfold rather then Roz.

You'll be sad to know that GRRM likes her a ton (the actress) and wants her in more, and is going to try and write her into the books at some point.

Yes, it's horrible.

I'll black out her pages then. :stillsick:

I don't hate Roz and I don't mind the fact that there are changes from the books. That said, I do mind a made up character getting so much screen time for a made up character.

If that happens I will burn all my ASoIaF books. I will tell people to never read them. I will have my account deleted from this Board never to return.

Of this, I swear.

Best episode up to date for me.

Had so many little scenes I loved so much:

Bronn coming forward to announce - "I will fight for the imp" had me laughing out like a mad man  Duel was excellent, as were Tyrion confessing his crimes, and tossing gold to Mord.

I absolutely loved how they kept "I will wear it as a badge of honor" too.

Finally Barrick appeared and it is another huge plus for me.

Scene with wildlings in the Winterfell was awesome, despite missing direwolves.

Remember another time Theon tried to look smart with the bow, and how it finished ? It gives so much more purpose to event mentioned above.

Viserys finally getting his crown was another brilliant moment.

.

Piece of advice to dose hating the show:

Don't look at series as they were supposed to mirror everything that happened in the books. It is excellent show based on the best books ever, and things will get changed - it means nothing as we still have books as the best thing man ever wrote, filmed, or programed.

Taking this approach made world of difference to me, and I'm enjoying the series soooo much more now, instead sitting there and bitching about every little thing that got changed :commie:

I also specifically remember them casting the part of Shae...Maybe they made a change and didn't really tell anyone about it?? If not they really are playing Roz up for some unknown reason..

If I remember right, they hired some ex-porn actress for the role of Shae :smoking:

My opinion is that Bronn could beat anyone one on one.

Could, sure. On any Sunday...

But he'd more likely lose if he faced the Mountain. He surely thought so. Or he'd have let Tyrion outbid Cersei.

Problem is that Tyrion couldn't outbid Cersei. He offered just empty promises, and nothing more.

Bronn laid out plan how to beat Gregor, quite the same one as one Oberyn used, and seemed to liked his chances against Mountain.

If Bronn won, he would probably get stripped of everything Cersei ensured him, and would have to "flee" with Tyrion.

This is my first post here, but I've been doing a lot of reading.

I noticed there was a mention or two of Roz on this thread.

During the red wedding, Robb's bride was named Rosalyn, supposedly a pretty daughter of Lord Walder. Would LW actually marry his daughter to a man he was about to do that to? Could this woman be "Roz?" Or am I way, way off?

Because Ros is awesome. She really is!

All true, but Ser Vardis was old in the books, so he tired out after a while in his awkward armor. In the TV show he mostly comes off as a clumsy fighter, but it cannot be helped I guess. It will be hard to fill in all the background.

Like almost everyone, I love what they have done with Viserys. One of the rare cases where the TV version of a character is much superior to the book version. On the other end of the spectrum, Sansa...just ugh.

I think he comes off as a clumsy fighter because Bronn makes the fight clumsy. A knight is used to standing toe to toe with his opponent honorably. Bronn forces him out of his comfort zone, making him fight on stairs and in between narrow pillows that don't allow him to swing his sword as he is used to. I like how the scene came off in that regard.

Way off. Well, a bit off. She was Edmure's bride, not Robb's. Also, LW's daughter (granddaughter?) Roslin is very definitely not the Ros from the show, whom we meet as a whore in Winterfell.

Have you read the books? It is very possible for small bands of Wildlings to get over or around the Wall. Jon says as much when he is climbing over the wall in SoS

Of course I've read the books. My username derives from the end of CoK... But it's been a while since the last re-read, and now I'm only about a quarter of the way through that particular tome again. Thanks for the quote and clearing that up for me. I also forgot about the magic Brandon the Builder infused into the Wall.

Could change the location - have it in one of the sky cells instead.

Alternately Sansa could walk in and the door would already be open. It would lose something of the door flying open and snow blowing into the room though.

Dany seemed more like a betrayer to Dragons, when she let Viserys be killed. I know he threatened her, but she should have also felt like the Dothraki were cheating her brother.

I really have to disagree. Her brother was such a coward, bully and really evil/crazy. He deserved what he got and should have gotten more! He always bullied Dany, and if I remember, whenever he said that Dany did not want to wake the dragon I am assuming if she did he beat her.
