No Mercy Trailer

Westeros

Recommended Posts

Not sure if already been mentioned, but another trailer:

From this, it looks like Robb, Cat and co. are going to turn up at Riverrun and find it sacked. At 2:49 we see Cat staring in sadness at someone (old, but can't see face), followed by what is clearly Hoster Tully's funeral boat being set alight.

I can't look at that trailer yet because I'm at college where the county council blocks everything, but I would hazard a guess that you're actually looking at Harrenhal which Robb will apparently take in E1.

Can't be: There's new material (we get a very good shot of Hoster draped in Tully colours with his sword in his funeral boat), and Kit Harrington's Facebook page shared it.

We already got a clear shot of Hoster's funeral in a previous trailer, and there's no reason Kit couldn't share a fan trailer he liked.

Pretty much says in the description that it's fan made. And I'm fairly sure we've already seen the Hoster in the boat shot from 'The Beast' preview.

I can't wrap my head around Talisa's role somehow merging with that of fake!Arya. Especially if she is pregnant because that changes way too many things, particularly for Jon since

it was confirmed in the app that Robb named Jon his heir

And if she isn't pregnant I can't see the North rallying around her, who was married to their king for a brief minute. Why should they care? Especially after the fallout that marriage caused?

If they do go the Talisa route instead of Fake!Arya likely they will play up the idea of liberating Winterfell from the Boltons rather than rescuing "Arya." Even without a marriage the Northmen have plenty of reason to hate them.

I can see that, but then I wonder about Jon's arc in ADwD. He sends Mance after his sister, would he send him to Winterfell just to try to liberate it? I just don't know how this would play out in the long run.

Jon is the main problem which it might be better just to introduce Farya in S3 or 4.

Can someone explain why people are so excited about the bathtub? Been a long time since I read ASOS...

That bathtub scene is one where we get a lot of Jaime and Brienne bonding time. I think its the first scene they have together after Jaime has somewhat recovered from his hand being chopped off. It's also the scene where he talks about the wildfire plot that Aerys had in store for King's Landing.

That and it'll be Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in that bathtub. Sans clothing. Hopefully that scene is a lengthy one--for the dialogue, of course. :D

Am fairly certain that if Kit Harington had a Facebook page, it would be private. It's probably a fanpage.

On the Talisa stuff--though there is certainly enough emotionally-devastating material, killing off Robb's love would twist the knife even further...I think she's a dead woman. If they go this route, I hope it doesn't take away from Catelyn's part.

Catelyn's death got me the most. I always liked reading her chapters. She seemed like the most "real" character.

We'll see what they do but I think if the plan is to kill Talisa at the RW as well, we'll be venturing into torture porn stuff as far as what the characters and the audience will have to go through. Not only are we going to have to see Greywind and Robb's loyal bannermen like Wendel Manderly (presumably) get slaughtered, then Robb, then his mother and have Arya once again be a little too late to save one of her family members but on top of it, they'd also have Robb watch his new love of his life soulmate be murdered in front of him before he goes? That just seems like piling on for the sake of piling on.

I would much rather have someone significant survive the carnage and be able to have the audience follow them afterwards in some form to see if they'll ever be able to gain a measure of justice for the events. Dramatically, I really like the idea of her having to witness it all, be taken hostage and be broken psychologically by her feelings of guilt and grief only to be rebuilt emotionally later on in the series to play more of a role. That's what I would do if I was changing the story to have her present. To simply add her to the body count along with everything else just seems to be a waste and does more harm than good IMO.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Oh no, King Tommen - I don't want that at all. Having Talisa miraculously survive would be just so wrong, let alone somehow allow her to become Fake Arya. It would also not make any sense - why would the Boltons and Freys leave Robb's wife alive, when she could be pregnant and produce an heir? Leaving Talisa alive at the RW makes no sense from a variety of perspectives.

Part of the RW tragedy is that Cat and Robb die thinking of family, and Cat in particular believing that all her family are now dead, whereas we the readers and the TV audience know that Bran, Rickon, Sansa and Arya are all still alive. I think it would be much better to do the RW and show cutaways to Arya and the Hound 'almost' getting there to return Arya as per the book with both of them seeing / hearing what goes on. That adds to the tragedy, because you've been thinking and hoping as you read Arya's chapters that she will make it back safely to the Starks - but also gives you a 'survivor', along with UnCat, possibly from Ep 10.

^ This. Also what are we basing Talisa's presence at the RW on? Something she tweeted about being around the set? Think there's still a chance she could be left at Riverrun.

We are basing it on this picture. This is clearly the RW. Even Roose Bolton and Wendel Manderly can be seen there too.
