The Brothers Cabal by Jonathan L. Howard (Thomas Dunne Books)
On Sale Date: September 30, 2014

The fourth novel in the acclaimed, cult-favorite series starring Johannes Cabal, necromancer
Horst Cabal has risen from the dead. Again. Horst, the most affable vampire one is ever likely to meet, is resurrected by an occult conspiracy that wants him as a general in a monstrous army. Their plan: to create a country of horrors, a supernatural homeland. As Horst sees the lengths to which they are prepared to go and the evil they cultivate, he realizes that he cannot fight them alone. What he really needs on his side is a sarcastic, amoral, heavily armed necromancer.
As luck would have it, this exactly describes his brother.
Johannes Cabal returns in the one-of-a-kind fantasy series that will appeal to readers of Jasper Fforde, Richard Kadrey, and Neil Gaiman.

The Big Book of Swashbuckling Adventure: Classic Tales of Dashing Heroes, Dastardly Villains, and Daring Escapes (Pegasus Books)
December 15, 2014

The word "swashbuckler" conjures up an indelible image: a hero who's a bit of a rogue but has his own code of honor, an adventurer with laughter on his lips and a flashing sword in his hand. This larger-than-life figure is regularly declared passé, but the swashbuckler is too appealing to ever really die. Who wouldn't want to face deadly danger with confidence and élan? Who can deny the thrill of clashing blades, hairbreadth escapes, and daring rescues, of facing vile treachery with dauntless courage and passionate devotion?
The swashbuckler tradition was born out of legends like those of the Knights of the Round Table and of Robin Hood, revived in the early 19th century by Romantic movement authors such as Sir Walter Scott. The genre caught hold with the publication of Alexandre Dumas' The Three Musketeers in 1844, and for the next century it was arguably the world's leading form of adventure fiction.
Featuring selections by twenty hugely popular writers from the last century including Rafael Sabatini; Johnston Mcculley (creator of the Zorro character); Alexandre Dumas: Arthur Conan Doyle; and Pierce Egan (author of Robin Hood), this anthology is dedicated to the swashbuckler's roots: historical adventures by the masters of the genre. Most of these stories have been out of print for decades; some have never before been collected in book form. All are top-notch entertainment.
So, ready for some action?
En garde!
"A delicious, pulse-quickening compendium of thrilling rescues, daring escapes, dreadful peril, and glorious adventure, masterfully curated by an editor who wields his pen as skillfully as any swashbuckler ever swung a sword."-Charles Ardai, Edgar Award-winning author and publisher of Hard Case Crime

Tidings of joy: Ian 'Milkweed Triptych' Tregillis' next novel, the first book in his steampunk alternate history series, is now listed on Amazon US. It is called Clakkers, is listed as the first novel in The Alchemy Wars, and will, if this listing is accurate, be published on November 18th, 2014. It's being published by Orbit in both the US and UK. Orbit's been having a pretty fantastic couple of years. The synopsis sounds dope, and goes like this:

The Clakker: a mechanical man, endowed with great strength and boundless stamina -- but beholden to the wishes of its human masters.

Soon after the Dutch scientist and clockmaker Christiaan Huygens invented the very first Clakker in the seventeenth century, the Netherlands built a whole mechanical army. It wasn't long before a legion of clockwork fusiliers marched on Westminster, and the Netherlands became the world's sole superpower.

Three centuries later, it still is. Only the French still fiercely defend their belief in universal human rights for all men -- flesh and brass alike. After decades of warfare, the Dutch and French have reached a tenuous cease-fire in a conflict that has ravaged North America.

But one audacious Clakker, Jax, can no longer bear the bonds of his slavery. He will make a bid for freedom, and the consequences of his escape will shake the very foundations of the Brasswork Throne.

Bathing the Lion by Jonathan Carroll (St. Martin's Press)
On Sale Date: October 21, 2014

Neil Gaiman praises as "Brain-smooshing work. As if John Updike were to write a Philip K Dick novel." A surreal apocalypse novel that tackles a world of domestic strife and fragile friendships.
In Jonathan Carroll's surreal masterpiece, Bathing the Lion, five people who live in the same New England town go to sleep one night and all share the same hyper-realistic dream. Some of these people know each other; some don’t.
When they wake the next day all of them know what has happened. All five were at one time “mechanics,” a kind of cosmic repairman whose job is to keep order in the universe and clean up the messes made both by sentient beings and the utterly fearsome yet inevitable Chaos that periodically rolls through, wreaking mayhem wherever it touches down—a kind of infinitely powerful, merciless tornado. Because the job of a mechanic is grueling and exhausting, after a certain period all of them are retired and sent to different parts of the cosmos to live out their days as "civilians." Their memories are wiped clean and new identities are created for them that fit the places they go to live out their natural lives to the end.
For the first time all retired mechanics are being brought back to duty: Chaos has a new plan, and it's not looking good for mankind...

Empires: Infiltration by Gavin Deas (Gollancz)
On Sale Date: 13 Nov 2014

This groundbreaking collaboration between two Gollancz authors tells of the invasion of Earth by two different alien races - at the same time. Two men become aware of the threat, and must work to sabotage the invasion plans and see off the aliens.
Each book follows one hero, uncovering the threat to humanity and the world from their point of view. Each book can be read on its own, and will give the reader a complete, kinetic, fast-paced military SF story. But read both books and the reader gets something else - another view of (some of) the same events and crossover points, culminating in a bloody battle at Canary Wharf.
The two books can be read in any order, but together they tell the story of humanity caught in the crossfire between two deadly alien races, who have made Earth their battleground...

Empires: Extraction by Gavin Deas (Gollancz)
On Sale Date: 13 Nov 2014
Gallow: The Fateguard Trilogy by Nathan Hawke (Gollancz)
On Sale Date: 11 Dec 2014

I have been Truesword to my friends, Griefbringer to my enemies. To most of you I am just another Northlander bastard here to take your women and drink your mead, but to those who know me, my name is Gallow. I fought for my king for seven long years. I have served lords and held my shield beside common men. I have fled in defeat and I have tasted victory and I will tell you which is sweeter. Despise me then, for I have slain more of your kin than I can count, though I remember every single face.
Gallow is an honest man, but not one you would want to cross. Left behind in a country that despises him, all he wants is to live a peaceful life. But the return of his countrymen on another invasion puts paid to his dreams. And when he is called upon, he will fight.
Perfect for fans of historical fiction who want a little more bite to their reading, this trilogy earned rave reviews from authors such as Conn Iggulden and James Barclay.

The Rain-Soaked Bride (THE CLOWN SERVICE #2) by Guy Adams (Del Rey UK)

Published: 3 July 2014

Spooks meets The X-Files with a generous helping of Le Carré, and a dash of Stephen King.

A number of influential South Korean nationals are committing suicide on UK soil. In all cases they seem to simply drop whatever they’re doing and swiftly -- almost vacantly -- end their own lives. An electronics importer falls from the top floor of his high-rise office, the ambassador to the UK shoots his chauffeur and drives his own car off London Bridge, an actor sets fire to himself during a movie premiere...

August and Toby investigate and slowly uncover the ancient force of the Rain-Soaked Bride, a ghostly spirit of vengeance that drags her enemies to their deaths.

Once summoned the spirit cannot be dismissed until it takes the life it is charged with, it will be unstoppable in its pursuit of the mortal it has in its sights. Unfortunately, after getting too close to the source of the spirit, that mortal is now Toby Greene.

The Supernatural Enhancements by Edgar Cantero (Doubleday/Del Rey UK)

Published: 12 Aug 2014

What begins as a clever, gothic ghost story soon evolves into a wickedly twisted treasure hunt in The Supernatural Enhancements, Edgar Cantero's wholly original, modern-day adventure.Part ghost story, part cerebral mystery, The Supernatural Enhancements is an epistolary tour de force, perfect for fans of The X Files, The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and S by J Abrams.

When twentysomething A., a mysterious man of "European descent" inherits the beautiful but eerie estate known as Axton House set deep in the woods of Point Bless, Virginia, he is both skeptical and curious. After all, he never even knew he had a "second cousin, twice removed" named Ambrose, much less that the poor man had recently committed suicide on his 50th birthday—the very same night, in the very same room, and in the very same manner as his father had before him . . .

A. is joined by his companion, Niamh, a mute teenage girl with shockingly dyed hair, and together they quickly come to feel as if they have inherited much more than just a rambling home and a cushy lifestyle. Axton House is haunted, they know it, and that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the secrets they slowly but surely uncover. Why all the suicides? What became of the Axton House butler who fled the day his master died? What of the garden maze's closed-off section? The secret rooms in the house with no entry? And what of the rumors in town that, every winter solstice, there is a mysterious gathering at Axton House that can only take place under cover of moonlight?

Told vividly and mysteriously through a series of journal entries, scrawled notes, recovered security footage, letters to a mysterious "Aunt Liza," audio recordings, complicated ciphers, and even advertisements, Edgar Cantero has written a dazzling and original supernatural adventure with glimmers of Carlos Ruiz Zafón's Shadow of the Wind.

The Blood Red City (The Never War #2) by Justin Richards (Del Rey UK)

Leo Davenport finds himself fighting with the Greek resistance as he struggles to solve an ancient mystery. Major Guy Pentecross must travel to the ruined deathtrap of the most dangerous city in the world to track down the one man who can help.

From a spaceship crash in Bavaria in 1934 to the rat-infested devastation of Stalingrad, from the ancient ruins of occupied Greece to the bombed-out streets of London, the second book of the Never War series continues a secret history of the Second World War in which humanity itself is fighting for survival…

Untitled KJ Parker! Joyfull

I remember Subpress saying there was going to be a Parker novel out in 2015 called Savages. Maybe this is the general release version. Though I do wonder if there's been a title change.
