The upcoming betrayals....winter IS coming

Recommended Posts

Sooo I know in Dany's story line it is explicit in saying that she will suffer three betrayals and stuff, so I don't really want to focus on that as it's pretty clear what will happen and who has/will betray her.

However, like Robb at the Red Wedding, I do feel that another of our beloved characters will die because of treachery.....but this might be a different kind of treachery. Something much closer, and more devious done by an actual POV character.

Possible betrayals:

-Tyrion betrays and plots to kill either Aegon or Dany.

-Jorah plots to kill Dany

-Sansas possible betrayal of one of her siblings

-Jons betrayal of Stannis, or vice versa.

-Littlefinger betraying/selling Sansa

-Dany using then betraying Tyrion

-Arianne betraying Aegon, or perhaps Arianne betraying her father/Dorne

-Alleras betraying the Sand Snakes

-Sam betraying Jon.

I could go into the reasons for each, but hopefully for avid readers they could see how many of these would take place.

Also we know from GRRM at Comic Con that Jeyne Westerling will be in the prologue of TWOW.......will she continue the betrayal to the Starks or will she be worked in betrayal of the Lannisters by Jaime and Stoneheart? Also, any other betrayals you guys think could happen?

I think the Prologue POV might be the BlackFish(I really hope GRRM breaks his rule). The fact that Jaime emphasized how important it was to keep Edmure and Jeyne captive means we are probably going to see an attempt by someone to free them.

I think it would be really cool if a force of some riverlords like Vance and Bracken(who the Lannisters think are loyal to them) approach the Lannister army carrying Edmure and Jeyne and then pull a Ramsay on them.

The use of the Brackens Vance's an other believed to be with the throne an other contributing factors maybe the pack of wolves I'm hoping the greatjon is freed . Things are going down in the Riverlands matter of fact the whole realm is ready to explode .

Jeyne Westerling never betrayed the Starks. Her mother and uncle did, But Jeyne, her elder brother Raynald, and younger brother Rollam were all devoted to Robb and have shown no inklings of betrayal. And if certain things happen, Jeyne is in a position to inherit Castamere (a well known seat of dissent against House Lannister, and with the second richest gold mines in the Westerlands). How awesome would it be if Jeyne Stark inherited Castamere and worked to bring down House Lannister?

Sybil played a role in stark demise but she knew nothing about Red Wedding or Raynald would not have went she says as much to Jamie at Riverrun I expect Raynald would not be happy with his mother an Sybil will probably meet the noose . Like to see Stoneheart an Lady Sybil meeting again .

I would love a meeting between Lady Stoneheart and Lady Sybelle. We all know how that would end. I can see the Westerlings betraying the Lannisters if the BwB free them. Maybe the POV will be from a Lannister guardsman? I think there will be a lot of betrayals in store for the Lannisters - we know Manderly's conspiring against them, the river lords would betray them too if the BwB free the hostages. A lot depends on the BwB...

I can definitely see Tyrion betraying Dany but in order for him to do that, she would have to trust him in the first place and I find that unlikely. I hope Sansa betrays LF. And there have already been betrayals of family members in Dorne, so it wouldn't surprise me to see some more.

Oh dear. And I thought GRRM can only be nasty to his own characters. Poor Sam.

I'm suddenly praying Sybell or Rolph are the prologue character.

POV for the prologue might be Lady Stoneheart, i.e. no new POVs, who'll get deposed by the Blackfish for being a complete nut.

Prologue and Epilogue can be new PoVs. GRRM only said he won't be Introducing new regular PoVs. I like your idea, though.

Tyrion's too clever to be outsmarted by Dany, but he will have to pick a side...he might well help defend Meereen but jump ship to Aegon's crew after the battle. If he sides with Dany it would mean going against Varys, Valerio, Connington and co so even if he is with Dany initially I think he will ultimately sell her out if necessary.

Jorah wont betray Dany, he's in love with her, but he will probably betray anyone else to get back into her good books.

I think Arianne will betray Doran.

Can't see Sam and Jon screwing eachother over...

I agree that Jon or Stannis might potentially become enemies, Stannis has a clear cut sense of justice which doesn't match Jon's pragmatism.

Also I see you haven't included Jaime and Brienne. She might betray him to save Podrick, we'll see...

I hope it's Sansa who screws Littlefinger, not the other way round, otherwise her development is pointless, unless he tries to but she bests him in some way. Personally if she's going to get the upper hand I think she needs to be the one to move first - use her 'assets' to get what she wants, and then use the information she's garnered and his attraction to her, to destroy him. Would be nice if she accidentally found out about his hand in her father's betrayal.

Not to be a negative nancy but I don't think a lot of these are likely.

If Tyrion betrays either Dany or Aegon he makes a powerful enemy, hurting his chances of retaining Casterly Rock after he somehow swindles it away. In addition he would probably earn the distrust of the other since he kills/alienates a possible spouse for Aegon or Dany. To alienate the Targaryeans wouldn’t make any sense.

Dany has nothing to gain by betraying Tyrion except a clever enemy.

Jorah wouldn’t kill Dany since he loves her and is looking for a way to serve her again. Unless she totally did something to throw him over the edge which he was already close to prior to the ADWD events and still didn’t betray her.

I think Arianne could betray Aegon if he rebuffs the marriage alliance or once she realizes he doesn’t have dragons. But, with her in communication with father it is unlikely anything will happen right away. I think Doran is teaching her patience and how to play the long game. Arianne wouldn’t betray all her allies and her family, including people like Areo and the Sand Snakes, for what she thinks is a vague shot at the crown. At best what she could hope for with Aegon at this point might be to become one of his 2 wives if he views himself as Aegon the Conqueror reincarnated after his conquest of the stormlands. This wouldn’t require a betrayal on anyone’s part though.

I’m not sure how the others would work out and what they might gain from a betrayal.
