[Spoilers]Did GRRM write this bit?

May we know how responsible GRRM is for particular parts of the book? I ask purely for theorising purposes.

I'd like to know if he wrote the Doom of Valyria pages, specifically the description of the destruction and particularly if he was responsible for the following language.

mountains burst

red clouds rained down dragonglass and the black blood of demons.

Aegon's Conquest is 100% George. A large portion of Ten Thousand Ships is also 100% GRRM. Other sections -- particularly the ancient stuff (including the Doom), some of the regions, and many of the Targaryen kings -- are much more Linda and I based on George's notes and the unpublished texts he wrote, but as you see we would, when we could, make use of some of George's fine imagery from the novels, and when we could we'd leave some interesting snippets from Gyldayn.

Not all. We discuss this a bit in our AMA (see #3) and give an example of the kinds of places where we speculated out solutions to questions we had about historical events, noted them as speculations to George, and then when he went over the draft he kept, tweaked, or dropped them as he thought best.

What seems to be also 100% George are all the sidebars credited 'from the history of Archmaester Gyldayn'. As I've said earlier, the unabridged account on the birth of Rhaenyra's daughter with Visenya is very powerful prose. Thanks for that one.

And it really gives a taste how the unabridged account on the Dance really looks like!

He hopes to write it, anyways. Perhaps when he's done with ASoIaF some other projects might appeal more. :)

What's left to be written? Finishing Gyldayn's history of Aegon III's reign and the reigns after his through to Aegon V.

Yap. You can guess that if you check the sidebars. Gyldayn's history is not cited directly from the end of the Regency on events occurring in those reigns.

By any chance: Is the section you quote from Munkun of the the speech from Aegon III at end of the Regency by any chance the last finished sentence from Gyldayn's history?
