  1. Germany has a long tradition of antimilitarism which has nothing to do with loving Putin. Please don't confuse these people with the Putin apologists on the far right and in some parts of the left.
  2. Sending all the good vibes to Talisker. So last week I thought I'd felt a breast lump on my Fibi. Thankfully, the Vet today said it was only a pimple. Sounds stupid, but it's my first dog, so I don't know what to feel for, and I was a wreck. (She's 6 ys old.) Anyway, Heart etc seems fine, too, and she got her yearly vaccinations too.
  3. But keep the slightly cheesy looks with the starry background! It was a great resource at the time (or rather, for me, a few years after the show had aired).
  4. I already ranted about season 2 (in the Watched thread, I think). Yes, they did some very good stuff in the end, but for me, it doesn't make up for all the soapy content/ contrived melodrama instead of good drama that came before. I was close to quitting, but will probably give season 3 a chance.
  5. Episode 4, and I'm activel... strongly disliking Ed by now. He's selfish and irresponsible, particularly with Gordo. The car scene was funny, though. What did die from? At first I got the impression it was a long disease, but then his sister said he'd "killed himself". Is it just me or Ugh.
  6. Good to know. Oh Molly, this isn't going to end well. The intro reminds me of that of Star Trek Picard.
  7. I finished season 1 yesterday. After initial problems with the culture of the times - the cold war rhetorics still bother me from time to time - I enjoyed it. My only real complaint is that unless they are in real peril, I feel slighly detached of the characters, even though most of them are likeable or relatable. (My favorites being Molly rough-around-the-edges Moly and her laid-back husband.) Something about the narrative keeping me at arm's length. Still, very well done. Love what they do with contemporary pop music. Off to the eighties tonight! Btw., will there be a season 3?
  8. I'm planning to watch it, so if I like it, I should be caught up in a week or so. Heard about it on the Jessie Gender channel and it sounds intriguing.
  9. In case you don't know them yet (they're decades old), I highly recommend "Fingersmith" and "Tipping the Velvet" by Sarah Waters for entertainment. The former in particular. (It was made into the movie "The handmaid's tale" a couple of ys ago.) There are also BBC adaptations for both. Author is queer.
  10. Yeah, they've handled the gay couple well overall, so I'm rather optimistic. And btw., I bet the "special" relationship with Stamets/ Culber will be a parental one.
  11. I don't know if this is of interest, or maybe everyone already knows, but the upcoming eason of "Star Trek Discovery" will have two new young characters, one of them non-binary, one transgender. While I don't think DSC is great, I'll probably watch it s my favorite shows are on indefinite hold due to covid. (I'm not sure what to think of having the transgender person be a trill, but I'll wait and see.) Jessie Gender has the info:
  12. This review pretty much sums it up for me: https://www.thefandomentals.com/padding-sex-and-nonversations-on-game-of-thrones/
  13. Credit where credit is due: I thought the WoS was a decent scene. 2/10
  14. It is! Can we have an official spoof thread? We could write all sorts of funny posts.
  15. And with this background, Sansa mentioning how nice Tyrion was right before the rape is disgusting. It's like saying, Too bad for her not wanting The Nice Guy She Should Have Wanted, see what it gets her!
  16. By that logic, the best course of action would have been to have Tyrion raped. Clearly THE fan favorite - most attachment - most resonance with viewers. ETA: Sorry, I see that has been covered already.
  17. I voted 1 and I would like to stress that without the Winterfell plot (which, to be honest, I had completely forgotten would happen), it would have been a 2. Not a book reader, btw. Well, not these books, I do read!
