  1. I've watched Mindhunter, a show about the development of serial killer profiling by the Behavioral Science Unit of the FBI in the seventies and eighties. While a difficult matter for squeamish people like me, it was engaging and historically interesting viewing (though not entirely unproblematic in many regards). Nice cinematography and accurate settings, which I think also made it very expensive. The show is on infinite hiatus after 2 seasons, so I assume it won't be continued. On the "light-hearted entertainment devoid of any depth or realism" front, I am enjoying Shakespeare and Hathaway.
  2. No new footage, but Wednesday got a second season, and Netflix made a trailer.
  3. Maybe I'll give it another try. Apart from the bad writing, I did quite like the aunts. And I can always hope the niece and her love interest get gruesomely murdered...
  4. I tried the British show Queens of Mystery. Annoyingly bad.
  5. Pizzatate? Tategate? Ok, I'll see myself out...
  6. My Life Is Murder has nice leads and scenery, but is a bit too ... generic for my tastes. And demands even more suspension of disbelief than your average 2-person killer in Midsomer... But the post above reminds me, I haven't watched Vera for a long time and I always liked it, I think. Particularly the rather curmudgeonly/ chaotic protagonist. I have no idea where I left and where to resume the show, though. I might give Three Pines a try, too.
  7. I think I'll check out My Life Is Murder next, thanks for all the suggestions! Sounds good, plus while I could never get into Xena (just too silly), I came across Lucy on twitter and she's awesome. Also, "right, sunny and filled with great color and food" sounds good.
  8. Whoever decided to allow fireworks to be sold a week earlier than usual, I hope they'll die a long and painful death. Soon. I'm sure the bribes are worth it though. Idiot kids are already firing them in the fucking street, and my dog is a wreck of fear. She doesn't want to go out and at home, she's velcroed to me. In the spirit of Christmas, may they blow themselves up in a blaze of glory. ETA: I should probably have posted this to the doggy thread.
  9. Kai Winn, my favorite Trek villain! She didn't have to raise her voice to be menacing. R.I.P.
  10. I just heard. Gotta say I'm more excited for this than for the reboot. Even though I'd prefer a real show, and more importantly, so many of the original actors have passed. Most notably I'll miss G'Kar, but also Delenn and so many others. I also fear Bester won't be around, as the actor allegedly has not been well. I'd love a mystery around what happened to Talia Winters (my pet theory is she was not killed as Bester said). Ugh, if all the remaining original cast members are in it, I'll have to endure Tracy Scroggins (sorry, not a fan). Anyway, good news! (I just hope it's not a game because... not my cup of Raktajino. Oops, wrong franchise!)
  11. Because it's communist H3 fusion. Duh.
  12. OMG, I just realized that the next season is practically writing itself: There's a superficially buried gun close to someone's new quarters! I'm sure both Dany and the Russian commander completely forgot about it because everyone has to be dumbed down to make his plotlines work.
  13. Let's see... First the good stuff: 1. Thank you, FAM, for 2. I enjoyed the sequence with Korean dude's time on Mars. As for the rest... Oh, I won't bother. I won't wade trough another mediocre season. I think the authors believe they can serve us sh*t and then pull off 1 or 2 great episodes in the end, with lots of action, drama, pathos, and slo-mo. Payoff! Certainly worked for most people and season 2. Problem is, this time around, even the final episode wasn't great imho. At least it was entertaining I guess. I'll leave it at that, except for saying that Ed is really the worst superior officer ever.
  14. For me, it's gotten old already. Maybe the soapishness instead of real, relatable human drama stems from the fact that they have to do these huge time jumps... So if the Margo situation doesn't resolve next episode, I'll have to check reviews for next season. I don't care about anyone outside of this storyline anymore, and that's porobably more to do with the acting than the writing. Well, and Will, the actor does a good job, too. And I wouldn't mind the fact that they're deviating more and more from our timeline, quite the contrary. But they don't really explore this reality outside of technology and the space race. For example, AIDS has happened, but the gay civil rights movement that arose from it hasn't. Why? And that's just one of 100 questions I have. If some of them were addressed/ mentioned, it would be a much more interesting show. World-building, essentially. (With the space race still as the main focus.) PS: They don't have enough room to take everyone back to Earth, right? Any votes for whom to leave behind?)
  15. What he said. But hey, I'm on the edge of my seat: - Will it be a boy or girl, and will Kelly name them Edward? Riveting stuff.
  16. I don't care about any of these characters anymore. Least of all about Space Baby. Oh yes, the ending... *eyeroll*
  17. Never watched BSG, but yeah. For me, it's mostly the soapy, clichéd writing. I love good character drama, but this ain't it. I'm sure they'll pull a few intense, suspenseful moments out of their asses, as they usually do at the end of the season. And I think both Stevens boys won't go anywhere. I bet that Danny will be "redeemed" by becoming better, without any kind of accountability for 4 people he killed. Ugh, and the storyline... I mean, I predicted it, but I hoped they wouldn't go there.
  18. I think I'll be out after this season.
  19. Because then it wouldn't have been dramatic enough! How convenient that Danny didn't get to confess... He'll get away with it, won't he?
  20. Yeah, I really hope they'll be back to form soon. The way this is going now, I wouldn't be surprised if we'll get a time jump, you know, 9 months or so, and Danny is breaking out of whatever prison they managed to put him in. Kelly is in the throes of childbearing (because of course!), and Ed manages to save his very significant First Space Grandkid (hey, that's finally a first for him!) by sacrificing himself. Or something along these lines.
  21. Oy, we're back in full soap/ melodrama mode. And not just on Mars. Danny, of course. The way Ed dealt with him was irresponsible. Knowing he was a loose cannon, doing drugs, "Hit me! Be a man!" and, worst of all, letting him anywhere near the controls instead of safely confining him to his quarters or the brig or whatever would have been available. I guess those 3 or 4 others are toast, but Ed will ofc survive. No way would the conspiracy nutjobs be able to steal that statue, badge or not. Of course, I bet Pat has basically been waiting for Ellen for, what, 25 years? Caring for her five to ten cats, never finding someone else, I'm sure. I don't know if Ellen will want to out herself, but her bodyguards and aides already know too much, probably. I assume whatever happens with her and/ or Will may give the gay rights movement (does it even exist?) a boost. Lots of eyerolls in this one. I hope at least Will is ok, but I still expect him to get bullied to the point where he will somehow kill himself.
  22. Speaking of secrets... I'm sure there'll be a dramatic fist fight between Ed and Danny while still on the mission, so how will it come out? We learned that both Danny and Karen have confided in at least one person. Wayne would never blab, but Danny's brother might, or Ed will overhear someone's com accidentally... Wait, maybe Danny does something really stupid, then they get into a fight, and *then* he'll tell Ed about Karen...
  23. The reason I doubt it will be about her identity is that I don't think the Secret Service and the press would cover for a woman the way they do/ did for the likes of JFK (noit even if she had male lovers, let alone female ones). Good point about the Veep though, wasn't he introduced as very right-wing? That hasn't paid off yet. As for Danny, yes, he's a drag and a remnant of Soapy Season. I think they're trying to handle it as un-soapy as possible this season short of writing him out, but there's only so much they can do I guess.... I always feel a little guilty because he wasn't the adult in that certain storyline, so I should be more sympathetic to him, but I just... can't. The almost-ONS scene a few eps back summed up his character very well: Pick up someone to cheat on your wife (whom btw you only married because you couldn't get the woman you really want), commit a crime by entering and using that property without telling her, take the easy way out, leave his date in the lurch and don't look back.
  24. Regarding Ellen, maybe a scandal - but how? For all we know, she's on the straight & narrow now, so unless she has affairs on the side...Then again, we've seen very little of her this season, so maybe she does have a secret life. I don't think her ex-lover would talk. She could also stumble over the NASA scandal with Margo, if it blows up. Or maybe that Dem leader who plays hardball (talk about unrealistic tv!) will blackmail her with either of these things. I suspect there'll be an assassination (attempt?) though.
  25. Forgot there was a dedicated thread. As I wrote in the other one, I love this season. The final scene was hilarious. As for Margo, she would never have given the Russians a flawed design on purpose. She's naive and has her own 'special' moral compass, but she'd never endanger lives. I do wonder what her plane to save Sergej and his family is (btw, does that include his wife?) but I think she may sacrifice herself. Aleida will be so disappointed in her...
