  1. Eberl said the German language requirement is not killer for a candidate. Emery was the second name after Rangnick on their list apparently. Problem is atm really that the guys in charge have to reach a consensus. That was what more or less killed off Nagelsmann's comeback (even before he withdraw himself by extending with the German FA). Eberl and Freund really wanted him, Hoeneß and folks who were already at the club when Nagelsmann left were vehemently opposed. Rangnick was sorta the candidate that they could all agree on. Flick apparently also has some opposition from Hoeneß, who is not entirely convinced that he has the quality for the job. And it's very difficult (or impossible?) to do anything against the wishes of Hoeneß at Bayern. Right now with the manager market being what it is, I still think they will eventually settle on Flick for lack of alternatives. So Hoeneß openly attacking Tuchel before the Frankfurt game means that Tuchel will most definitely not be in charge next season, something Hainer confirmed. Not that Tuchel wants to be. Btw. Mourinho is somebody, whom Hoeneß has ruled out for the Bayern job years ago, as too much drama with him (too toxic), and that was way before he went to United, Spurs and Roma.
  2. For the love of Rod. Just paste and post in plain text. This text on blackbackground is getting bothersome.
  3. In breaking duhs. Rangnick has turned down Bayern's offer to become their next headcoach. I've said it before, I was kinda surprised that he was in the running, as he had not worked on the frontlines for a while and preferred the bigger picture boardroom roles to the hands-on day to day business of being in charge of a team. My guess is, they will go the interim route with Flick. Not what they'd ideally want with the CL final in Munich next year. But beggars can't choosers.
  4. Well, yeah he should, but that's indepedent from asking for your opinion of the quality of an opera production. Going by his recent interaction/communication attempts, I'll try a left field theory of him trying to get to a friendship (without benefits) relationship. I think that's the most benign reading.
  5. Am I the only one, that would I find it extremely funny, if she was then approached by two mormons?
  6. Or he just values your opinion on the production. Whether he then goes there with another woman or not is not really in the asshole category imo.
  7. Why? I think Rice has been a good signing for you.
  8. RIP Paul Auster An author I sorta unexpectedly enjoyed (picking up one of his books (Moon Palace) from my bookshelf with the expectation of not going to particularly enjoy it, but he won me over)
  9. In other news. Relegation bound Osnabrück (Bundesliga 2) is having a stadium problem. An inspection of the roof section revealed some flaws and the City of Osnabrück has pulled the plug until the issues are fixed. So their Saturday game against Schalke is probably not gonna be happening. The club believes/hopes that they can fix things, just not before Saturday. Question is what happens with the Schalke game, play it elsewhere or reschedule it (not ideal with just 3 games left, midly put). Their final game is also a home game against Hertha. They are mildly optimistic that the stadium issues will be solved by then. At United the roof is at least only leaking and has not lead to the Old Trafford being closed down.
  10. Tuchel's attempt to salvage the season is back on track it seems.
  11. Obviously. But that was not the point, tho. Point was the question whether it is better/more humane to use the lethal injection to end the suffering of a sick and suffering animal than a bullet. Noem putting a perfectly healthy pup down is beyond the pale. And her needing to walk back to her car, because her first shot did not kill that goat is also not in the humane category. I mean, if you are in the DIY animal killing category you should at least be prepared for the possibility of your first shot missing and then be prepared to put the poor creature out of its suffering ASAP.
  12. Yeah selling Salah is overreacting by parts of the media. Salah has not been in good form since his injury lay off. Klopp thus put him on the bench instead of the starting XI. Salah was unhappy about not starting that game. Liverpool will deal with it internally. If Salah contiues to act up, I can see him getting sanctioned sold, but chances are that this is effectively a non-story.
  13. Altho, whether that's more humane than a bullet (when done properly) is up for discussion imo. I'll share a story from a co-ed who worked as Vet's assistant, before she attended University. Don't worry, no dogs involved. For the cat lovers, I can assure you no dogs were harmed. Anyway... Family comes in with their cat. They walk in, the vet gives the feline a shot with the needle, and leads them out. Vet assistant stayed back. The cat starts twitching, which kinda freaked the vet assistant, who went out of the treatment room slightly panicked. Doctor, quick, the cat's twitching. The Doctor, who was talking with the family turns on her. And scolds her for being incosiderate, as he was still talking to the family who had to come in to have their cat put down. Yeah, turns out, the cat was to be euthanized, and the vet didn't share this information with his assistant, who thought the cat was having a reaction to anesthesia. Again, no dogs were harmed, but the cat was certainly dead however.
  14. Yeah, but it would still mean thatthe big boys can spend (slightly?) less and thus narrowing the gap to the poorer clubs somewhat. Nobody's arguing about Bournemouth suddenly spending money on par with United, City, Liverpool etc.
  15. Pay what would be relatively low wages for World Class players. Relatively low wages for World Class Players can (and in this case do) mean big payday for distinctively not World Class Players. So in a best case scenario, you get next gen Neymar on a 10m p.a. contract, which would be great deal. When you end up paying 10m p.a. to Mudryk that's distinctively less great. Again, the Boehly model was/is essentially a gamble on the future with blue chip prospects, and the way it looks this gamble is not playing out well for Chelsea FC. Palmer has been the only clear hit on the transfer market thus far.
  16. Their is the key word there. My understanding is, that it will no longer be tied to the revenue of the individual club in question. Had the new rules been in place this season, it would have capped spending at £ 518m. (essentially 5x what Southampton (smallest amount of the involved clubs) gets from the central marketing agreement). Three clubs voted against it. The Manchester clubs and *drumroll* Aston Villa. United is apparently worried about the comptitiveness of the EPL (yes, spending money on players like the proverbial drunk sailor in a brothel has really made United competitive on the European stage). The PFA is, let's say critical, of it, coz it would effectively translate into a salary cap.
  17. Got turned off by Season 1 for those exact reasons. Tried to watch it, but just fell asleep. Maybe, I'll give it another try, when I have a bit more energy.
  18. Meanwhile promotion is almost secured mathematically. We won our game against (who the fuck is) Hansa Rostock on Friday. Captain Irvine took care of business. Yesterday Düsseldorf were held to a draw against Schalke (who had a last minute penalty call overturned by var). So that 7 points clear off the play-off spot with 3 games to go. Among them a home game against bottom of the league Osnabrück. Cherry on top, Kiel also lost yesterday, so we are back at the top of the table. But like I've said before, I will happily take 2nd place and thus win promotion. Going up as champions would be a mere bonus.
  19. Went with my teammates from chess (well, most of them, one became a father two weeks ago and went home after his game, and will also be sitting out tomorow's final game due to babysitting duty) to an Asian all you can eat for ~25 € per person. Let's say I got value for money. Quality and quantity wise. The desserts on offer were also fun. Tiramisu and Ice Cream are not exactly Asian, and yes, it was not an either or situation for me. Same with appetizers. It was not either spring rolls or Sushi situation. I would have been fine with either, but when I can pick both, why not?
  20. What to say, horses lack ego, as there is no I in horse. belatedly fixed it, and would've done so earlier if you had let me know.
  21. Boy did I get that one wrong. Liverpool have really run out of steam and are just going through the motions now. Like I said, they will finish inside the CL spots, but not win the league.
  22. Would be a bit pointless tho, wouldn't it? Liverpool won't drop out of the CL spots in any observable reality this season, and neither will they win the league. I think Liverpool properly stuffing West Ham is a more likely outcome for today.
  23. Have you considered your daughter tried to trick you into buying booze, her friend's mum wouldn't?
  24. FTFY Can I just say, you've obviously lived way too long in Germany. Neverlosen ffs. Even I find this one painful.
  25. Yes, but still worth pointing out, that this big immunity case is a distraction. The Fischer case is the one, that should be all the talk, and that's the route to kill the Goverments Election interference case.
