  1. If Martin sticks to the plan he talked about in 2019, D&E 4 will come before F&B 2.
  2. Dunk & Egg. And then more D&E, after that some more D&E, a bit of D&E to follow, immediately after that I’d love me some D&E, and finally 4 more D&E all the way to the end. And once we have the complete D&E, you all get your F&B 2 which I don’t care at all about (in case that wasn’t obvious already).
  3. Yes to all of this. And also worth mentioning is the constant use of double standards... 'The Starks and the north are barbaric', but the Dothraki are gentlemen with kind and forgiving hearts.
  4. Do you know what I love most about these ridiculous arguments and statements you and your mates like to make? I'll give you a clue: it isn't how you either twist the text or can't understand the text when it comes to Jon and the Starks. No, what I love most is how you apparently don't understand Dany either, like, not at all. Because you seem to 'think' that in a RW scenario, Dany would side w/ the Freys and absolve them all and congratulate them on their accomplishments. Sorry to break this bit of bad news to you, but she wouldn't; she would be horrified and appalled by the treachery and betrayal.
  5. I don’t know the first thing about lampreys… or maybe the second b/c I do know some species feed on other fishes’ blood.
  6. I was thinking the lamprey pies meant the Twins… Nice, I was stuck on this one but can see it being Gulltown. Same, I thought King’s Landing in general.
  7. I can’t say I “see” all of the dioramas, but this is probably more on me than you. And regardless, that didn’t take away any of the enjoyment I got from reading the OP. Well done! ps: still thinking of the question at the end. I think I have one figured out but still thinking.
  8. I actually hit post by accident before I was done! So, trying again… ADwD, Jon VIII He may not heed your words, but he will hear them." Val kissed him lightly on the cheek. "You have my thanks, Lord Snow. For the half-blind horse, the salt cod, the free air. For hope." Their breath mingled, a white mist in the air. Jon Snow drew back and said, "The only thanks I want is—" ADwD, Jon X “The Magnar all but ripped the maiden’s cloak from Alys’s shoulders, but when he fastened her bride’s cloak about her he was almost tender. As he leaned down to kiss her cheek, their breath mingled. ”
  9. He did, here, in this quote you posted in the OP.
  10. I know it’s not, but only the bolded, which I wrote to show one example of something he might have said if he’d finished the sentence.
  11. Well, Gilly’s baby was a baby for years and years…
  12. I know. But according to lemongate he was born 9 months earlier, and it was Dany who was born around the time of the Sack of KL, to Lyanna and Rhaegar, at the ToJ. That would make Jon a toddler by the time Ned gets back home. And my point is that there's no way a toddler can be passed for a baby.
  13. I also have a huge issue w/ Jon being 9 months older than we have been told. Yes, yes, maester Luwin tells Jon that bastards grow up faster or something along those lines, but I really don’t think it has anything to do w/ this or w/ Jon being older than what we (and most characters at Winterfell) think he is. There is just no way in 7 hells Cat would be fooled by a toddler being passed for a baby. No. Way. In. Seven. Hells.
  14. TWoIaF - The Free Cities - Braavos “Braavos is a city renowned for its architecture: the sprawling Sealord’s Palace, with its magnificent menagerie of queer beasts and birds from all around the world; the imposing Palace of Justice; the huge Temple of the Moonsingers; the aqueduct that the Braavosi named the sweetwater river, carrying much-needed freshwater from the mainland of Essos (for the water in the canals is brackish, muddy, and too foul to drink because of the refuse thrown into it by the city’s inhabitants); the towers of the keyholders and noble families; and the House of Red Hands, a great hospice and center of healing. In and amongst these noble structures are countless shops, brothels, inns, alehouses, guildhalls, and merchants’ exchanges. Along the streets and bridges stand statues of past Sealords, lawgivers, sailors, warriors, even poets, singers, and courtesans.”
  15. Course they are! The lowest of low of the sibling fucking Valyrian are way way wayyyyyyyyy above the top highest most noble house anywhere in the universe!
  16. @Craving Peaches, I’m with you. The main hard evidence seems to be the absence of trees, and that quote from a Sam chapter in Feast pretty much resolves that issue. The rest is, as far as I can tell, speculation and interpretations of things that Martin, in true Martin form, makes vague and foggy and full of information gaps.
  17. Who is Crackship Rose? I think I was away during that 19-20 period. I do remember that there were a lot of dumb Dany hate threads earlier. And again, for the millionth time, it’s totally fine to dislike characters and houses, and it’s perfectly okay to want to discuss why you dislike the Starks or Targs or Greyjoys or whoever, as long as it’s not blind hate that is based on nothing in the text. As to defending traitors and rapists and murderers to back up their idiotic claims… I suppose it’s “fine” insofar as people are allowed to defend whatever character and actions they want. But defending Slynt and Ramsay and Walder in order to criticise the Starks doesn’t detract from the Starks (or whoever) but rather from those defending such vile scum.
  18. These are preposterous 'arguments', as usual. Are there readers who dislike Dany and/or Targs in general? Yes, same as there are readers who dislike the Tullys or Baratheons, or Greyjoys. That's not a problem. And if people who dislike a certain character and/or house start threads meant for discussion of actions and events from the books that are open to interpretation, good on them. Again, not a problem. But when you have the one little group who insist on starting threads or posting everywhere with the sole purpose of spewing their hatred/dislike for a certain character or house. and base their opinions not on the text but on their wishful thinking and/or poor understanding of the text, then that is a problem. When this little group must resort to defending murderers, traitors and rapists to diss the object of their hatred, then that is a problem. And I truly do not understand how one doesn't undertand this, I don't think it's possible not to understand it. Therefore the motives must be different from lack of understanding.
  19. Yeah, I agree @Craving Peaches. I don’t care if someone dislikes the Starks, even if they vehemently dislike them. In fact, I don’t even care if there’s no reason, like, “I really don’t like the Starks just because”. That’s fine, it’s their right. But as you said, when you have to defend the vilest characters in the books just to try and paint the Starks in a bad light, that’s where I start scratching my head. The other aspect of this is that I just think it’s soooooooooo weird that someone would choose to come across as being incapable of understanding the text just to diss a fictional character… I mean, I’m old enough to remember a time when people didn’t like to look ignorant… but now (and this is something we see irl as well), it’s like they wear it like a badge of honour. Beyond bizarre if you ask me.
