  1. Come on now, the guy is a finisher. He will get it done! Just like college. It might have taken him nine years to get an undergrad degree, but he finished it!
  2. That was an exciting few minutes.
  3. That doesn't always lead to better games though, including the other time all four 1 seeds made it
  4. Geez, I've been so busy at work, I didn't even clock that today was Thursday... Looks like it didn't matter that I forgot our game was on. Oh well.
  5. Wow, shocked we got a 7 seed. Was thinking we'd be an 8/9.
  6. Still way too damn expensive (as I say every time you post a deal on one of her books )
  7. Yeah Littleton. Shows sold out again now. Looks like the join waitlist would have reserved a signed copy.
  8. The one 30 minutes from me is sold out too (and he's going to be chatting with another of my favorite authors at it??). Suckage!
  9. Booksmart is absolutely hilarious. But, geez, it was 2019 when that came out.
  10. I figured you would print it out with your email
  11. I did also play Unconscious Mind recently. Absolutely loved my first play of it, but, wow, did the shine ever wear off of it quickly for me (probably why I forgot to mention it above). I like a lot of the parts of it (the notebook building is really fun), but it's really just a recipe fulfillment game, the city board is so incredibly boring, the action board gets clogged up sometimes purposely and some times incidentally, and the entire reputation track feels both too much and not enough. I do really hate it when games go on kickstarter while they're still being developed, but even though this one was a year late, I wish they would have spent even more time streamlining it.
  12. Some recent 2024 games I played: Sankore: The Pride of Mansa Musa - love this, each action is pretty simple, but the consequences as the branch out is wonderful. Inferno - great game, very different from pretty much every game in my (way too big) collection... technically it has worker placement, but feels nothing like your average worker placement game. Shackleton Base - also co-designed by Fabio Lopiano (Sankore), just delightful, easily top 10 (probably 5) of the year for me. Flip 7 - what a great little push your luck party game. Cities - fun, but very light, little drafting and city building game. Fromage - a worker placement game with a fun timing on when you get your workers back, again pretty light, so probably not one that will hit the table too often. Civolution - feels like Castles of Burgundy's big brother. Have only played once, but loved it. My gaming this weekend will be very limited as I caught a bug during my Christmas with the family, so I'll probably be breaking this out solo at some point. Rise & Fall - my home run rate with Kickstarters isn't always the best, but between this and Inferno (and Scholars of the South Tigris but Garphill games feel like they're in their own category, as I mostly back them on Kickstarter to get more direct cash to the publiser) I feel like I've had a great year from Kickstarter games (Inventions: Evolution of Ideas - again though Vital Lacerda games feel like they're in their own league). Terminus - another great game from Kickstarter, so so soooooo much better than Inside Up's previous game from last year that had people gushing, but I found to be insufferably boring (Earth) Still need to play a bunch of 2024 releases about which I'm excited: Phoenix New Horizon, Stress Botics, El Buro, Resafa, Frozen Frontier, Atlas Lost, Men-Nefer, Minos, Salton Sea...
  13. Wow, good game, but more stress than I needed on a Tuesday night! Happy to get that win without Dickinson for the final 10 minutes. Not sure what he was thinking, but getting undercut like that would definitely piss me off. Knueppel choked down the stretch, but really seems like a great player. Our defense on Flagg did a great job.
  14. So, in our first three games we were able to win against a good team that pushed the tempo to 11, and a good team that slowed it way down. I like that.
  15. Stupid early game... I'll get to it in about 2.5 hours
  16. 2nd half less fun, but still fun. Two really good teams. Down 1, 4 min to go.
