Videogames 2023 pt. II: Can We patreon This Man an Alienware Already?

"Get me out of this HELL HOLE!" is one of my favourite gaming quotes ever. I always think of it when I'm bored at work. -

The game does a good job of getting you to care about characters that you haven't even met yet. -

I loved Prey but I found it quite difficult. Couldn't get far in it using human powers, had to go with the Alien skill tree. -

My brother works for Blizzard and he's not happy the Microsoft deal got blocked by Britain. He says the Blizzard management are useless and was really hoping Microsoft would come in and fix things. -
Didn't like the episode, didn't like the season. I admit the idea of Mando going back to his bounty hunter roots does have appeal though. I can imagine him sitting outside his cabin fishing between bounty hunting missions.

Yes unfortunately there is a bit of a culture war aspect in that people are putting its success down to lack of wokeness. I think people are fine with the role Peach played and are happy Mario is the true hero of the film. Apparently the original draft had Mario as a bumbling idiot with Peach saving the day, but Nintendo came in and said you're not gonna screw over our character like that. Personally I'm just happy to see Nintendo stick it in the eye of Disney, and I'm hoping they follow this up with a great Legend of Zelda film. -
They turned Baby Yoda into Krang. This Thrawn stuff isn't doing anything for me; it's going to be Disney's Thrawn, not Timothy Zahn's Thrawn.

Unbelievable episode. Unlike anything I've seen on TV before. It all just felt so real.

I really wish they'd do a remastered version of Far Cry 2. None of the ones that followed really captured the same magic fror me. -

[Spoilers] Rings of Power 4: The Battle for Middle-Earth begins

Maybe we need a rant-and-rave thread for Rings of Power. The one for Game of Thrones season 8 only went on for four years and 300 pages. -

It's true a lot of people will be hate-watching the show, especially YouTubers who are basically monetizing its badness. But personally I've cancelled my Amazon Prime subscription and will not renew until Jennifer Salke gets fired. -

I didn't like the bubbles of death either but there's a lot more I loved about the films than didn't like. Anyway I hardly see PJ as the savior, I don't think he's made a good feature film since LOTR. But at least Warner Bros are paying some deference to the fanbase. Anyway I don't want either company to make more LOTR stuff but between the two I'd definitely find it hilarious if Warner Bros beat Amazon and that looney Jennifer Salke. I also find it funny that Amazon's 1 billion dollar series was so badly received that Warner Bros even feel confident enough to challenge them in the first place. -

Nothing is worse than what Amazon has done. Warner Bros at least want to get Peter Jackson involved, unlike Amazon wo ghosted him. I don't think Peter Jackson has it in him to make a good feature film anymore. He makes great documentary films, maybe he should stick to that, but at least Warner Bros are making the effort. Also I haven't played Shadow of Mordor but most people who've played it it tells me it's great. -

I'm rooting for Warner Bros on this one. -

We were talking about what a great South African export Johnny Clegg was and this came up: -
Indy's back, and he's even older and grumpier. If you thought what they did to Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi was bad, just wait till you see this!
-
Who was the director who wanted to make a joke out of Roach's death and Henry Cavill refused to do it. Cause that person is clueless about the source material.
-
How do studios not realise how bankable this guy is? His talent is being wasted. They need to use him as much as they can before he ages out of all these roles.
-
After hearing some rumored plot details I have zero hope for this whatsoever. Time travel in an Indy film? No thanks
-
Seems a good opportunity to post this gem: Some of my favourite burns from Lara: "You've been getting owned since 'throw me the whip' 'give me the idol!" "There's a big bang you can't hide in a fridge from!"
-
Indy knew exactly what he was doing there!

I was into it until the last scene. Tired of seeing great heroes of yesteryear being brought back as comically inept geriatrics. Indie in the originals was like James Bond, the epitome of cool and confidence. No doubt in this version we'll see him constantly being humiliated cause that's what we do to our heroes nowadays.
-
Well that's it for that series then. Cavil as Geralt was the best thing about it and from the sounds of it he cared more about the characters than the showrunners. Liam Hemsworth is a laughable replacement. Can't see the guy as Geralt at all.

A solid episode with a great ending. The end of episode 9 still leaves a sour taste in the mouth especially since episode 10 didn't address it at all, although to be fair it didn't feature King's Landing. As far as I'm concerned Rhaenys is a war criminal and should be portrayed as such. I love the look on Aemon's face when he realises what he's done. I think it was a good choice on the part of the show to portray it as unintended on his part.
