Spring Bass Posted February 13, 2015 Share Posted February 13, 2015 I can't imagine Marge or the rest of the family not pulling the plug if Homer was more or less indefinitely in a coma for years on end. Dunno. My personal favorite theory is that the show is a "show-within-a-show" created by one of the adult Simpsons kids (probably Bart) as a way to re-capture a special period in his childhood. EDIT: Thinking about it, they ought to make the eventual final season (or at least part of it) a whole bunch of "endings". Like "it's a TV show", "Homer's in a coma", "they're abducted by aliens", "they are aliens", "Springfield has to move because of a sentient marshmallow invasion".
