It's certainly no help at all in staving off the threat from the Others. Unless there's some dragonglass in it I didn't detect.

Why are they called "threads"? Has anyone ever tried sewing a suit from one?

I'm more intrigued about that talking candle from Beauty and the Beast.

Does the fact that the magic candle is burning mean the beauty and the beast pairs (Jaime/Brienne, Sandor/Sansa) will have sex at some point?
