What would have been other fitting ends for the Mountain ?

Recommended Posts

During his fateful duel with Oberyn Martell, Gregor Clegane "the Mountain" was poisonned with manticore venom by Oberyn's spear, and despite managing to surprise and kill in a very gruesome and terrible way Oberyn, who made the fatal mistake of going too close to him and lowering his guard in order to make him admit his horrific murders of Elia and Aegon, agonised in the most hellish way possible due to the venom he was injected with.

Other than this ending (if you don't count how his body was brought back and used by Qyburn as Robert Strong, no doubt that the old Gregor is finished) what are the other endings that would have been fitting for the monster that was Gregor Clegane ? What other fitting and satisfying dooms would you have liked to see happening to the Mountain.

The other endings I would have liked for him are:

- To be trapped and killed in a particulary gruesome way by the people of the Riverlands he had persecuted so much during the War of the Five Kings.

- Being fought and killed by the Hound, with Sandor finally besting his brother and making him pay for burning him and killing their sister.

- To be devoured by Nymeria and her wolf pack.

- To have a confrontation with the Brootherhood Without Banners and the Brave Companions, during which he kills Rorge but is injured, and is then assaulted and bitten to death by a completely enraged Biter.

What are your ideas ?

:agree:

Although I think the ending he got was pretty fitting. Died in agony. His soul/will has been removed completely and he is seemingly left as an empty shell.

A perfectly cruel ending would be:

Loras tyrell is sent after him and they meet and to get revenge for him being attacked at the joust renly using his superior horsemanship and lance skills dehorses the mountain in such a rapid and violent fashion the giant breaks his neck and is is crippled...all his vast strength now counting for nothing.

Brought back to kings landing he is made to confess...the hound vists his cell and tortures him with fire ...he publicly gives up tywin for sending him to pillage AND for his rape and murder of the former royal family members satisfying dorne

It would have to be something rather painful, given the amount of people this man has hurt in life. Having his hands and feet chopped off, the wounds sewn shut and him being left out in a yard to starve to death would be my preferred way. Maybe even allow the families of everyone he's wronged in life to kick him in the balls or face, in this helpless state.

A recurring theme in Tolkien's universe is the idea that the smallest of creatures frequently have the most important role to play. Something similar might have been cool here. Say with Aria having a crucial part in his death. She's small physically but casts a long shadow as Martin likes to say. She could have stuck him with the pointy end somehow.
