Anyway, of course they were likable, as evidenced by the fact that so many fans like/love them. That's the definition of the word. But somehow when people talk about movies and TV, it's become a shorthand for "good/nice/morally upstanding" or whatever. IMO who wants to see really unlikable and unsympathetic rich nepo characters should watch The Fall of the House of Usher.
