I was watching Mad Men when I voted on the Cercei-poll, and I realised that Christina Hendricks would make a damn fine Cercei. She can be ruthless, bitchy, (play-acting)meek, crazy and sexy - and she's even a natural blonde.

Miranda Raison, perhaps, as Cersei? She's the right age(ish), and damn fine looking, IMO.

I can't really comment on her acting abilities, maybe someone else could chip in?

I just wanted to make sure everyone knew, since I hadn't seen it mentioned on this page yet, that unfortunately Charles Dance has passed away. I know he wasn't even the first choice for Tywin, but I saw him mentioned multiple times earlier in this thread and thought I'd better say something!

Btw I really like Dave Legano, the guy who's just been suggested earlier in the thread for the Hound!

Me, too, really like Legano. Very good fit for the Hound!

Sad, sad about Charles Dance. I've always loved the guy.

Gretchen Moll would be a perfect Cersei. I think Cersei would need to be someone who just looked angelic and incapable of having a mean streak. And when she showed it, it would be almost shocking to an audience unfamiliar with the books.

Ed Harris is an ideal Tywin. He's got the look, and it would be limited episodes so they could swing a big name like that.

Polly Walker seems to be a very good choice, since we've seen her playing Atia in Rome who resembles Cersei in certain aspects... Besides her looks, she has proven to be a very talented actress, which is a crucial matter for this type of role.

Wow, I think he would make an awesome Tywin. I wonder if he's been suggested for that yet.

One idea I have for Jamie Lannister, which I've seen in other places but not here is Chris Carmack. He can do a British accent from his theater work.

Also, if Rosamund Pike is cast as Cersei, the two have been love interests on the West End production of "Summer and Smoke" and they both got great reviews for their chemistry.

My Top 3 for Jaime Lannister are:

1. Eric Johnson - This guy was awesome as Flash Gordon in the cancelled TV show and would make an awesome Jaime.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0425053/

2. Daniel Gillies - I haven't seen anyone mention him, which is surprising. He was good in Spider-Man 2 and I think he could have easily handled a bigger part. I'm also jealous of this guy since Rachael Leigh Cook is his wife. Good job, Daniel!

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0319171/

3. Brad Beyer - I loved this guy in Jericho. He can cover the wide range of emotions and situations that Jaime has to cover. I'm really surprised not to have seen him mentioned prior to this.

My top 5 for Cersei Lannister are:

1. Alice Henley - She was awesome as Livia in Rome and would make a fine Cersei. My only concern is that she may be a bit young for the part, but she is definitely mature enough for it.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2466446/

2. Sarah Carter - I loved her in Shark and DOA: Dead or Alive. I think she would be perfect for the role.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0141931/

3. Sophia Myles - I thought she was awesome in Moonlight and Underworld. She'd make a good choice as Cersei.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0617009/

4. Kristanna Loken - She's been awesome in Unhappily Ever After, Painkiller Jane, Ring of the Nibelungs, In the Name of the King, and Terminator 3. She would be a great person to have on the show.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0518085/

5. Ashley Scott - I loved her in Jericho and think she looks just like Cersei.

Charles Dance is not only alive and well but is living the dream.

And yes, he is Tywin Lannister. The right age and as his various costume dramas have shown, not adverse to putting on the facial hair when it is necessary. My only concern i is that whilst a character with a major impact on events, he doesn't necessarily have large amounts of screentime until Book/Season 3 which may put off a major actor from the role. Or it might be really attractive as they can do loads of other work in the meantime.

Anyway, Dance is my #1 choice and rather more likely than #2, which would be the obvious Patrick Stewart.
I'm surprised for Tyrion no one has mentioned Michael J. Anderson, from Mullholland Drive and Carnivale. I dunno if he'd be considered too old for the part, but he certainly looks the part. When he smiles, it looks like he could either be your best friend or he's plotting to stick a knife in your back. Also, whenever I read Tyrion's parts in the books, I hear Michael's voice in my head because it has such a distinctive sound to it.
I second this suggestion wholeheartedly. Michael J. Anderson is my absolute #1 choice for Tyrion as well.

Lots of of good picks here (and some aweful ones). Charles Dance great pick for Tywin, but part of me would love patrick Stewart. Picard as a bad guy, playing against type very sweet. James Purefory for Jamie and Hendricks for Cersei (but she is the only American I'm letting in)

I have just watched Serenity and i think that Nathan Fillion would make a great Jaime.

Other than that i always pictured Tywin as Ed Harris :) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000438/

About Max Pirkis: please, that kid is a great actor, and would be wasted on Joffrey. Give him Robb. Just because he's blond, he doesn't have to portray Joff. Pirkis was not only good in Rome, but also in other films like Master and Commander. He doesn't have to play an obnoxious young kid. I ask for a dyed Pirkis to make job.

Dyed and with contacts, he'd also make a great Loras.

Tom Felton is not a bad actor, but giving the poor boy Joffrey would be giving him Draco Malfoy 2. For the actor's sake, I don't want to see that. For the series' sake, I don't want people to remember Draco when they look at Joff.

Joff is supposed to be taller than Robb and Jon when he's 12. I'd go for an unknown. It's an easy part, we rarely see Joff struggling or feeling bad.

Christina is impressive, and atrociously beautiful. But Cersei is described as svelte. Plus, I see Christina and can't help but think of Melisandre. She is so tall, so voluptuous, so impressive... Gorgeous, and a great actress, but I don't see her as Cersei. However, I grant you she would do a great job. I'd surely have her rather than Tricia Helfer.
I agree with James Martsers for Jaime. He would be perfect.

I also think Max Pirkis and Tom Felton would work very well for Joffrey, but I think they are a bit too old now.
Are you aware of how old James Marsters is? He's 46..... Too old to play Jaime.
Although I love him, maybe another role.
