I diasagree on Emilia/Kit. I feel like they acted exactly how the showrunners wanted them to. They wanted them to behave like schmucks and they did. Some people seem to think Emilia was SUPPOSE to sound badass went she was saying the fire and blood and take what is mine... NO she was suppose to sound petulent, and she did. Don't blame the actors b/c that was the road they wanted these guys to go.

Completely agree with you about Emilia. Still skeptical of Kit Harrington though. Don't think he's been given all that much chance yet but still underwhelmed.

For me the only bad actors have been Kit Harrington (Jon) and Aiden Gillen (Littlefinger). But they are not very bad, it is only in moments. Specifically:

  • For some reason Harrington has trouble with emotions. He did the bratty Jon well, but hasn't handled Jon's growth very well, I don't think. The writing for him was also awful in season 2.
  • Why the hell is Gillen obsessed with whispering? He always seems to be whispering, despite the volume of his voice. Even when he is trying to speak up it sounds like whispering.

Honorable mentions:

  • Renly,
  • "Talissa"

But really, the show has been blessed with such great actors. The ones that immediately come to mind that are just PERFECT are:

  • Mark Addy as Robert Baratheon
  • Maisie Williams as Arya Stark
  • Obviously Sean Bean as Ned Stark
  • Peter Dinklage as Tyrion

The guy that plays Jon Snow is horrible in my opinion. Really hard to feel that excited over his scenes because I can't stand his performance. Fortunately everyone acting around him really saves the moment.

Actress that plays Dany was bad in S1, a whole lot worse in S2, but she's getting better throughout S3, so i'm warming to her.

Guy that plays LittleFinger...What the hell is going on with his voice? It's distracting and comical. That's the last thing i should be feeling about Littefinger.

Guy that plays Jorah is far too controlled and stiff in his acting. But it's passable, he's just not one of my favorites.

I'm so glad other people notice this! I thought I was the only one. It bothers me so much because he seems jester-ish.

Got to say that I do not think any of the actors are bad.

But there are some that have convinced me less than others, namely

1. Stannis

2. Selyse

3. Renly

4. Loras

5. Tormund

6. Sansa

7. Margery

8. Lancel

Apart from my personal opinion, this may also be due to casting choices, scripts and lack of screen time. I have to admit that I did not particularly like any of them in the books either except, Tormund, who apart from the red hair is nothing like I expected.

My top .... on the other hand are:

1. Bronn

2. Varys

3. Jaime

4. Tyrion

5. Ned

6. Arya

7. Lord Commander

8. Tywin

9. Maester Aemon

10. The Onion Knight

11. Jorah Mormont

12. Queen of Thorns

13. Drogo

...........

The list could go on 'cos there are too many to mention.

It will be interesting to see how people change their opinion, as I am sure mine will as the story develops.

Emilia Clarke does a great job. Some of her scenes in season 2 were weak, but I think that was due to the material she was given. When she has been given quality material she has been fantastic. She was awesome in the dracarys scene.

I think that Jon Snow's story since the end of season 1 has been the worst part of the show. Kit's acting is probably a factor in that, but I think the material he has been given has not helped. I just don't understand the changes made to his plot last year. Technically they arrived at the same place as the books, but they turned a really cool "behind enemy lines" plot into Jon fumbling around, making dumb decisions, ending with a half assed "Jon kills Qhorin and now the wildings accept him" scene. Because of this I'm willing to give Kit the benefit of the doubt. He did do a nice job when he was given good material in season 1 and I expect a lot less people will be hating on him once we get into his material from the back half of ASOS.

My list for the worst five actors on the show:

1. The Mountain - We need the original Mountain back. I know it is a small role, but it pisses me off they let basically a stunt guy play the Mountain last year. I'm sure it was budgetary, but I think a better option was to just leave the Mountain out of season 2.

2. Loras - Strikes me as a one note actor.

3. Ygritte - I just don't like Rose Leslie's "Ygritte" voice.

4. Brienne - I generally think she does a good job, but there are a few scenes (like Renly's death mentioned above) where her acting took me out of the show for a moment.

5. Margery - I like Natalie Dormer (I thought she was great on The Tudors), but I think she is a little too excited about everything this season. She is engaged to a monster after all.

This show is so well cast that it was tough coming up with a list of five.

The actress who plays Shae, she can't act and deliver lines with an 'exotic accent' at the same time (just found out she's from Germany, but not being an English speaking native isn't a valid reason for me)

Kit Harrington. I know Jon is an introverted kind of guy but there's no life in those eyes and his delivery is just plain. Reminds me of Orlando Bloom, which is quite alarming.

She is of Turkish descent.

5 random porn actors for me, they only their because they can do nude scenes easily.

In my opinion there isn't one weak link in the show, they all play what is written in the scrips, maybe different from the books but that's not their fault (even if many fans things it is).

And how can somebody say natalia Tena as one of the weakest? I think GRRM is pulling his hair out when he reads it. (I think everybody knows what he thinks of her acting skills ;) )

Nat. pulls off Osha perfectly, I love the way she uses her big eyes by tilting her head and revealing more of the white(almost hypnotizing)

There is something with Kit that makes him that way(Like Stannis) If you watch him in any of his press/interviews he is always sullen(Never a smile)

Haven't Seen past S3 Ep1 but it seems they(showrunners) have combined Tormund and the Magnar of the Thenn. Don't know how they will pull that off at the battle of CB. Tormund has to be the funniest character, the story of him Fucking a Polar bear had me crying for about five minutes, couldn't read. Then GRRM has the bitch walking around dead without her pelt.

Oh, well, like many people in Germany, Turkish descent but German by birth, probably speaks German like any other native... Anyway, her accent doesn't sound German or Turkish to me. It sounds just contrived and fake.

As a German i can assure you that her accent does sound quite German. Not every German sounds like Arnold when talking English

And how can anyone dislike the perfomance of the guy who plays Stannis (Stephan Dillian?). If there is one actor who is affected by poor writing, it's him. Seriously, he puts so much expression and subtleness in every line, he could just read the telephone book for me.

I agree re: Stephen Dillan. He doesn't qualify, even though (not his fault) the accent is wrong. We can blame the producers for altering Stannis' personality. I actually like Emilia Clarke, but she does tend to rely on a few stock scary facial expressions, especially in Season 3. :-I Again, I think it's the way that she's been asked to play the character, but at least she fits the role physically, which is more than you can sometimes say elsewhere.

Many English and American people have been brought up watching old World War II films, where often Germans were played by Americans or English actors, who in turn, it would appear to me, modelled their 'German' accent on Hitler speeches. But just like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Hiltler was Austrian, whose accent tends to be not only different but usually much stronger when speaking English. I suppose having the baddies sound harsh is a bonus as far as producers are concerned.

I'm surprised more people don't mention Aidan Gillen as Littlefinger. He was fine in season 1, but after that he started to overact like hell. Just listen to some of his lines and tell me it doesn't sound extremely forced.

Case in point:

Kit Harington as Jon Snow and Sibel Kekilli as Shae are also quite talentless.

Hitler didn't speak with Austrian accent at all, neither did Schwarzenegger since he was from Steiermark where you speak another alpine accent. But how he spoke in his first movies kinda established the way Americans think how Germans talk English, like not capable of pronouncing the "th". They only hardened the consonantes to sound more "Prussian".

Sibel Kekilli isn't talentless. It's funny people keep mentioning the porn thing, because the big newspapers in Germany already pretty much destroyed her career by bringing that up everytime she appears.

She doesn't not quite fit for a fantasy drama though, since she brings a certain urban, modern realism into her acting. But I find that rather interesting
