RumHam
Tyrion is being auctioned, there's a buyer that keeps saying "And one", which recalls Bloodraven.I really don't think that's a Bloodraven reference. It recalls The Price is Right if anything.
RumHam
I think maybe they are one of those critters that actually exist both ways. Maybe a "mythical" type manticore, as you see on the shield, and then an actual manticore, like Selmy kills. But those are just my thoughts.Yeah, I sorta think the latter was named after the mythical version. Dunno though.

JMJ
Homing pigeons exist in our world. Still there's obviously a bit of fantasy mixed in.There are threads about the ravens, of course. The interesting consideration is, how do they know where to go? Maesters seem to be able to pick out any raven and send it anywhere in Westeros, and be confident that short of being shot down or taken down by a predator, they will find their way to their destination. A good example of how this seems difficult to envision is in ACOK when Stannis sends out a bunch (or should I say congress) of ravens to all sorts of locations with the letter proclaiming Joff a bastard and Stannis rightful king. I don't suppose Maester Pylos had one raven dedicated to each destination. Rather, somehow maesters are able to tell a raven its destination, and it somehow knows how to get there. I suppose, as others have postulated, that the ravens are smart enough and well-trained enough to know all the usual locations in Westeros and will go where told. Or perhaps BR is controlling the entire raven-net and doing this.
Knight Of Winter
Stannis is supposedly 3 days from WF.Thanks for answer. The suspicious part for me was how did Theon and Jeyne managed to arrive to Stannis' camp without starving / dying of thirst / freezing. But maybe that's beyond scope of Small questions.about ravensTheon's spoiler chapter from WOW answer us that (answer doesn't contain any story spoilers, simply information about ravens. I'm putting spoiler tag just in case)Each raven can be thought to fly to one castle only (which would correspond to real-life homing pigeons which could fly only to its "home" destination). So, maester chooses a raven for particular destination and raven flies to it.In rare cases, some ravens can be taught to fly to two destinations instead of one. And every once in a while, it happens that raven can learn to reach 4 or 5 different locations. Such ravens are very rare and very prized.

rmholt
Given the context, I think "remember the undying" is just a warning about trusting people when she shouldn't.The actual undying did lay on some pretty good prophecies and wisdom. It was in the other rooms that nonsense was happening

In the world, there have been resurrections. Mirri did not invent the magic she used, you know. The Dead were raised during the last Long Night.I believe those were wights, not resurrected people
