Lady-Nymeria
Hi! I was thinking about the Houses's sigils and foun out that many of them are animals, plants or things that do exist in Westeros (roses, trees, bears, spears, lions, direwolves and dragons). So, mi question is: are krakens (the Greyjoy's sigil) real?
direwolf_of_white_fangs
yes but extremely rare. even more than Dragons. see more here http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Kraken
History of Westeros
Euron and Victarion are off trying to blow a dragon's horn when there are perfectly good kraken horns to be blowing. c'mon Greyjoys, don't you know your own *sigil*?! For_The_Good_Of_The_Realm
Pardon me folks, but why would anyone assume that Krakens might exist ? There hasn't been a single evidence, only myths and faerytales.
Merchant of Yi Ti
Pardon me folks, but why would anyone assume that Krakens might exist ? There hasn't been a single evidence, only myths and faerytales. Because in a world with seasons lasting decades, dragons, creatures made of ice, zombies, and fire gods krakens are completely plausible
Tim Thomason
Pardon me folks, but why would anyone assume that Krakens might exist ? There hasn't been a single evidence, only myths and faerytales. Myths and fairy tales and modern-day intel reports: A Storm of Swords, Chapter 19 (Tyrion III): The eunuch drew a parchment from his sleeve. "A kraken has been seen off the Fingers." He giggled. "Not a Greyjoy, mind you, a true kraken. It attacked an Ibbenese whaler and pulled it under. There is fighting on the Stepstones, and a new war..." Krakens are probably just stronger versions of OTL Giant Squids. No one seems to doubt their existence, not even Tywin in the very next sentence when he dismisses their import. Krakens are barely a threat to Westeros' mostly land war or his chief concern then of finding his son. The Kraken Horn might be mythological, but there's nothing to indicate that they are magical beings that can be controlled by such nonsense. Fire Eater
Pardon me folks, but why would anyone assume that Krakens might exist ? There hasn't been a single evidence, only myths and faerytales. Here's your evidence: TWoW: "And krakens off the Broken Arm, pulling under crippled galleys," said Valena. "The blood draws them to the surface, our maester claims.

Fire Eater
If Arya ever comes across a kraken on her across the Narrow Sea given the foreshadowing of her ferry ride in ASoS, does anyone think it is possible she will warg the kraken when it attacks? Hmmm, interesting. I can see her running into some trouble with one, given her =possible= forshawdowing on the black river. Skinchanging a kraken though? :dunno:

I would love to see Arya take out her vengeance through a Kraken. I highly doubt it will happen, but it sure would be awesome.
