dmo862000
Okay so obviously the Starks are generally regarded as the best/ most honorable family. However it seems every family in Westeros, be it the worst or best regarded families, have at least a few exceptions to the rule. The Freys I believe have a couple nice members, the Lannisters have Kevan and Gerion who doesn't seem horrible, the Targaryens are a huge mixed bag throughout their history, the TRUE Baratheons might be an exception because noone comes to mind that is inherently evil but even some of them are grey characters. Even Roose's only trueborn son (I can't recall his name and he's dead by the start of the novels) came across as somewhat decent. What I am getting to is, however, is there anyone currently of the Starks or in the Stark line that was inherently bad? I know the Night King is possibly a Stark but that is unconfirmed. Arthur Dayne's Honor
Well through 8000 years of ruling there is bound to be a few bad apples
Beorn Snow
The starks of old mostly seem to be not at all that nice, and I fear these novels are the story about how the Starks got their groove back. By the end Westeros will be engulfed in winter with the wolves as kings, and the rest of humanity dreaming of spring.

The Broke Howard Hughes
Westeros needs an ice blooded, cold hearted, Stark badass to remind everyone WHY they ruled the North for 8000 years.
TheMysteriousOne
The historical Starks were not known for honor; the Kings of Winter were hard, strong and cold men, according to Ned. Ned and his children are an exception, except Rickon and Arya (somewhat). Ned learned to be honorable because of Jon Arryn, and because of how horrified he was by what he saw during RR. Minsc
Theon "The Hungry Wolf" Stark who was constantly at war was likely not a nice character.
shastada
Brandon Stark (Ned's brother) didn't seem like that swell of a guy really. Seemed more like Robert Baratheon, than Ned.
Fightbringer
The night's king? i question whether he was actually a stark, if old nan had been telling that story to any other child of a northern house, she would have said the nights king was from that house Beron Stark (son of Bael the Bard) killed his own father, even if he was king beyond the wall, you have to question his morals if that is the only impression of them we get

Ludd
Beron Stark did no KNOW that Bael was his father - at least that is how I read it.

Ludd
I think Ned said the Kings of Winter were hard men for hard times. Being Hard is NOT the same as being bad. It means that they make tough choices but necessary ones. Survival of the many may mean sacrificing a few.

PrimeRhaegar
i'm sure there was alot of them. Especially in the early years when they had to consolidate their rule of the north.

C0bR
There was also no Brandon the Cruel, the Mad or the Unworthy. As said before, hard men for hard times, not necesarilly evil or mad (although there surely were few).
Arthur Dayne's Honor
I'm sure most of them were just and honorable to a degree. But no where near Ned's level. I would say they were more like a mix of Tywin and Ned

Of course they respected guest right, only the most vile and despicable people in Westeros defy guest rights. By honor, I meant that the Starks of old were not like Ned.
