Team up pairs of characters who will get along

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

This is just a fun post, wanting to know which characters do you think will get along well. For eg, we had some Tywin-Arya chemistry in the TV series, which we didn't have in books. Which pair of characters, separated by geography or timelines or politics, would make good friends if they met?

Note: this is not shipping, just picking characters with similar nature/values.

My pick:

Ned and Davos

Littlefinger and Prince Doran

Drogo and Robert (If Robert didnt send assassins after a pregnant Dany)

Sansa and Ser Barristan

Randyll Tarly and Stannis (If they weren't at war)

Sam and Bran

Brienne and the Hound (lets go rescue Sansa!)

..

Ned and Davos

Littlefinger and Prince Doran

Drogo and Robert (If Robert didnt send assassins after a pregnant Dany)

Sansa and Ser Barristan

Randyll Tarly and Stannis (If they weren't at war)

Sam and Bran

Brienne and the Hound (lets go rescue Sansa!)

Love these.

Mine:

Sam and Tyrion - they could start a book club! lol

Arya and Meera

Walder Frey and Craster :ack:

Cersei and Barbrey Dustin - they could swap stories about why they're so bitter about Robert/Rhaegar and Brandon respectively.

Jon and Gendry - Arya's beloved bastard boys ;)

Drogo and Robert (If Robert didnt send assassins after a pregnant Dany)

I agree with this one :).

Makes you wonder what Dany would think if she knew her beloved Sun and Stars and the Usurper were similar (in a way).

And it makes me think about Robert. He probably would have been a way better Khal than a Westerosi King.

To add some pairs

Asha's Nuncle "The Reader" and Sam. I kind of wish he had him as a father rather than Randyll.

I think Meera would've been a good role model for Arya. A pity they didn't visit Winterfell more often.

So true! He could fight non stop, not settle, and go whoring as he wishes.

Podrick and Arya

Podrick and Arya the Little Warriors club! Adults will ignore them in a battle, so they may do a lot of harm.

Everything is right on spot. Dunno how I forgot Sam with Tyrion. Both have unhappy fathers, too. Walder Frey and Craster for polygamy?

I wouldnt want them meet and exchange ideas. There are Freys and there are whitewalkers, but whitewalker Freys? world will end.

Edric Storm and Edric Dayne

Shireen and Tommen (they actually probably did know each other at some point)

My favorite - Wyman Manderly and Illyrio

Darkstar and Rheagar Frey - just a douche fest, and hopefully Darkstar just cuts the Frey up (not like a pie)

Val and Ygritte

Val and Arya (way better)

I think the Robert and Drago connection was pointed out in the books directly to Daenarys. She asks Jorah if her khals army could storm a castle and he tells her that they'd win in open war but not in castle warfare. She then asks if Robert would meet them on an open battlefield or fight from his castle and Jorah basically says that Robert might be dumb enough to meet them on the open battlefield because he loves battle and has no taste for seige warfare. He then points out that Robert would have made a better khal than a king and is much like them.

Arya and... any of the sand snakes. I also have a prediction that Myrcella is gonna be kind of awesome. She has already shown she's smarter than Trystane (prince of Dorne) by constantly beating him constantly at cyvasse. She also shows some critical thinking and bravery, as well as independent decision making, when Arianne stages her little coupe. Her temperament is balanced between Joffrey and Tommen and somewhat ideal, similar to Aryas temperament that is neither a bloodlust killer but patient and contemplative survival.

I think Brienne and Asha would have a similar relationship to Brienne and Jaime, which would make for some good conversations.

Oberyn and Asha

I'm not normally into crack shipping but... wow. :stunned: I'd love to see that.

Put Ned, Davos, Brienne and Barristan into a room together, see if you can fit them in or is it too much honor per cubic meter

Damphair and Patchface - Aeron would have a field day...

Littlefinger and Illyrio! Bonus points if Varys introduced them

Mance Rayder and Jaime - they can speak honour and vows and stuff

Sansa/Arya and Dany - I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for that one.

That chance is past, but I would have loved for Brienne to have some interaction with Maege and Dacey Mormont in Robb's camp... :crying:

My very 1st choice would be more Tyrion & Jon... I liked them together and hope they'll meet up again -- (fingers crossed).

Eddard & Davos

Arienne & Dany & Margaery (if they could not be in competition w/each other)

Asha & Arya & Osha & SandSnakes

Bronn & Oberyn

I don't know if Bronn and Oberyn would be that great of a buddy match - I think Bronn would find Oberyn a bit strange, and a little off - so he would have his guard up and probably pull a knife on Oberyn if Oberyn started something weird, and then would be strangely surprised to find a poisoned knife inside him. Not saying Oberyn would feel the need to kill Bronn, I think that would just be the reaction.

Likewise, I think Oberyn would get a decent measure of Bronn, but not think there is too much there since Bronn isn't much of a conversationalist for someone like Oberyn. Tyrion, sure, he's a smart prep school type kid with a bunch of bad habits so of course he's good with a Bronn. But Oberyn is a whole other level of smart badass - he brings the danger to the party himself, unlike Tyrion who brings the danger with him as a guest.

I do think Arya and the Sandsnakes would be a simply great matchup - but any contact would have to happen soon. Younger Arya, and she will make an impression as a strong little girl who could use their help to empower herself. But in a short amount of time, she is going to see them as potentially dangerous to herself, and since they will initially underestimate her - just like everyone - she might knife someone before they can find their common ground.

Fair points, but I think Bronn and Oberyn are both just cool and laid-back -- they are who they are, and they each own it. I think they could have a mutual respect society (meetings would be in a brothel of course :-))

I put Arya with older badass girls/women cuz I thought they all are similar at their very cores. The females I listed with her are strong in different ways, but I think she'd love that they aren't like the traditional "ladies" that she has a distaste for... plus I think young Arya could learn from them (temperance, when a kill is warranted, how to be a funcional-adult-woman-badass :-)).
