Westeros
Big news for Bryan Cogman, story editor of Game of Thrones and writer of such episodes as “Kissed by Fire” and “The Laws of Gods and Men”. According to Deadline Hollywood, Cogman will be writing the Magic: The Gathering film—the first in a potential franchise of movies—for 20th Century Fox and Hasbro with Simon Kinberg (of X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past, among other works) producing.Congratulations, Bryan!(Oh, and before anyone worries that this scripting work will pull him away from Game of Thrones, never fear—Cogman’s participation is confirmed at least through season 5!)Visit the Site! Winterfell is Burning
Good for him. Him writing a screenplay doesn't mean he's out- Terrence Winter wrote The Wolf of Wall Street while still working on The Sopranos.
protar
Does Magic the Gathering actually have a plot? Otherwise I have a hard time seeing this working. But in any case great news for Bryan!
Ran
Battleship scored $300 million worldwide, so... lack of intrinsic-to-the-source plot is probably no bar, to turning a profit, at least. That said, I'm sure Bryan's got some ideas for making something watchable. :)
The Dragon has three heads
Heaps of back story. Could work. Many weirdo magic players out there...
Rhaquentis
Totally earned, he's very talented. Wish him more of those interesting and well-paid jobs to come! :D
The hairy bear
Magic the Gathering actually has a wide plot. There's a rich background of stories, scenarios and characters. The flavor texts of the cards fill in a lot of it. Perhaps the most iconic of the stories is what's called "the Brother's War", were the artificier Urza defeated his brother Mishra. But there are multiple other stories that they can draw from.
Victarious
Hmm. Odd. I wish him luck though, Cogman is a cool dude.
House Larose
Magic has so much they could work with for plot. The hardest part is actually narrowing down to what they can/should use. If anyone can do it, it will be someone that has written for GoT though.

Both Spielberg and Soderbergh complained about this last year, very few film I go to the theater for anymore, unless I want a loud ambient noise nap. Pretty soon I think they will be releasing action films in the Asian market and not even show them here!
