Zared
I'm basically just wanting your opinion on who are some of the best authors of historical fiction and what work of theirs would you recommend reading?

Circle_breaker
Personally i think Bernard Cornwell is the best in the business. The saxon Chronicals, the warlord chronicals, and an archers tale are all medieval settings. I haven't read his sharpe series buts thats musket time. Zared
Thanks for the link Lady N. I've just read Bernard Cornwell's Holy Grail series and Agincourt, and thought they were really good. I've never wanted to read the Sharpe novels as I loved the show to much, and don't want to ruin that, as I know that they both differ. I was thinking of maybe reading the Warlord series next. Nearly Headless Ned
Ross Leckie's Trilogy on the Punic War is very good.Robert Nye's fictional account of Giles DeRais is excellent as well and I've heard very good things about Falstaff which is his most famous work. Datepalm
Amitav Ghosh should be more on the radar. The Ibis Trilogy is great.
