  1. Herbert was aware of that choice. He was very much anti the white savior and the charismatic leaders/great men of history. Paul, as the series goes, on is a demonstration as to why this is a bad thing. I'm not sure if you read the books, so I'm trying not to spoil.
  2. That or they were interested in their own takes on these stories.
  3. Yeah, too bad the stuff written by Son and other dude ended up being kind of poo.
  4. I know that, the movie doesn't quite say that yet, so I was trying to give a hint to someone that asked a question without spoiling it.
  5. Remember the Bene Gesserit told Jessica that they laid a path forward for her age Paul. Think about it, how did they do that?
  6. I always thought it was about humans throwing the shackles off of the humans who used AI tob control them.
  7. My wife with zero knowledge of Dune enjoyed it. I liked it too. I do think it's hard to say if it's good without the sequel, but it was exciting to see this partial vision of Dune.
  8. Nice job! That looks good. I haven't played with uploading assets yet. I am enjoying 5e more than the Pathfinder system as a DM, I am finding it to be a little less to manage and easier to balance things. Even low level creatures can be threatening to higher level players depending on the abilities of the creature.
  9. I will give Wonderdraft a shot. They really updated inkarnate over the past year or so, it is, well, easier for me to use it to create my fantasy cartographer maps than to draw and scan.
  10. Also, separate note. Inkarnate is a fun map making tool with a free option, that works well, and it's paid option is great, along with being super cheap. I use it to design fantasy maps and whatnot all the time, so if you are looking for something like that, check it out.
  11. Yeah, always my philosophy as well. Anytime I run a module or something from somewhere else, I always stressed this was Guy's Version and not necessarily the version that everyone else knew. In part, I just didn't have it in me to learn the rules and to learn all the lore details. I remember when I ran Dragon Heist, I said the same thing, this is going to be Guy's Verision of Waterdeep as several of my players had a ton more knowledge of the Forgotten Realms than I. It usually works out. I only had one person ever had a problem with it and I invited them to go look for a different game.
  12. Whenever I play in someone else's Sandbox I remind my players that this is Guy Kilmore's version of XYZ and might not match up to what you know. So, for Relic, there, at least lore wise,is no wrong way to DM Relic's Eberron. I am sure you are killing it.
  13. I would love to, but don't have the time, settling into a new job and all. (Might be even moving on to another new job.) I might live vicariously through the board though, how is it going? A friend also wanted to run something, but very catch as catch can when it comes to meeting up, but I am trying Ars Magica up. I have always been curious about that system.
  14. Yeah, there are only a couple of things that won't land right in Campaign 2 because of not knowing Campaign 1, but not a big deal. The animation is about one of the really good arcs from Campaign 1.
  15. If you do go back to watch Season 1. Keep in mind, the quality is low in the beginning as they were just starting, and you are jumping in mid campaign, so you are kind of diving in mid stream.
  16. Good Luck on the new game! I hope it goes well!
  17. It was! I ultimately went my own way. When I GM, I have a hard time playing in other people's sandboxes. I wish I could, it saves me a ton of headache.
  18. Wildemount has the Dunamancy Wizard School which I find kind of interesting. I liked a lot of themes presented in Eberron. My homebrew takes place in the equivalent of our 1860s or so. So the theme of magical manufacturing and such, where low level magic is very common. I like the Artificer class and I think it is Eberron that it makes its appearance. I used the options for Dragonmarks as Guilds are a thing in my world (I repurposed Dragonmarks for my own thing too). I have allowed the races. I have a player who is adoring playing his crafty Changling Rogue, and since it is online we have kept his true race a secret from everyone. I am having fun introducing a little bit of wild west/pulp/gritty adventuring in with my high fantasy. ETA: So I might not have taken many mechanics, but I have taken inspiration from Eberron.
  19. I too have read the book for Wildemount and watching Season 2 of Critical Role. I have never run Eberron, but I read the book and yoinked ideas from it for my homebrew world I am currnely playing in. Like Poobah, I am willing to share my thoughts.
  20. Yeah, I think it's because gunpowder at those amounts suck against one creature, might have been different against a group. At least by the book damage.
  21. I agree he is not the best DM ever. I don't think Matt would agree that he is either. I don't really think anyone is. I don't think anyone can be the best DM in every group and situation. It is more, what does the table at want and need. His players have a blast and he does well by them. I do disagree with the bolded. He wants his players to surprise him. I mean, off the top of my head here are some examples.
  22. I don't think Matt would say he is the end all be all of to it. He says a ton of good stuff about Matt Colville for instance. He is a very good DM for the table and his players. They have good synergy, appear to be enjoying themselves.
