  1. I watched the pilot last night. It feels like a good SyFy show with a bigger budget. I've never actually read a full Wild Cards story, but that reveal at the end made me think Whedon drew some inspiration from the Wild Cards universe. Anyone versed in Victorian history and culture - what were those ministers doing with the hourglasses? I think they were hourglasses.
  2. The real Godzilla vs King Kong, with commentary from a bloody legend.
  3. Popping here to ask a question: is there a correlation between the mythos of the knightly hero, like St George, killing a dragon, and that all the named dragons in Tolkien's writings were killed by Men (and not Elves, Dwarves, Maiar, etc)? Sure EƤrendil was half-elf, but Ancalagon was OP, and took a magic ship and an army of eagles to take him dowm.
  4. Last I checked Peacock wasn't available on Amazon devices either, at least not the Fire TV. Amazon is fairly notorious in allowing competitors to use its devices, and it takes a while for any new streaming apps to become available. It took months for HBO Max to become available, and Disney+ almost didn't make it at launch. On the subject of packages, Disney already has one with Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+, and it's cheap if you don't want Hulu Live and don't mind adds.
  5. Same here, though I've considered cancelling Netflix. But they're sneaky, and sometimes drop good stuff when you least expect it. I'll likely drop Hulu live, but keep basic Hulu. Much as I'd like to keep up with the English Premier League, I seldom watch more than one game per week, and I can see all the highlights on youtube. There is barely anything else I watch on it. I've just ended my CBS AllAccess subscription, which was through Amazon. I stupidly signed up for 1 year of ESPN+ back in September. I've barely used it.
  6. Yes, especially since they're increasing the price by $10 this month.
  7. I thought they would wait to see how Wonder Woman does, unless there has already been massive increase in HBO Max subscriber.
  8. Your cleverness surpasses mine. I've not seen that movie in ages.
  9. Not sure how that the thread title made you think of that glorious comedy sketch, but cool.
  10. I did like their con name - JeddiCon - and the poster was pretty cool. But indeed, no realistic chance.
  11. I have similar feelings about Stargate SG-1, at least the early seasons. I loved the show growing up, but maybe it's because I grew up. (somewhat)
  12. Jon was tempted to become Lord of Winterfell, but his honor to the Night's Watch kept him from accepting Stannis's offer. But that may change given what's happened. Being king never crossed his mind, considering who he was and and where he was, but that's not saying he won't accept it, should his parentage be proven true and the circumstances be right. And his living with the wildlings in the North depends, of course, on the conflict resolution with the Others, besides the rest.
  13. That is a just a failure of your imagination. If Jon's dad is the same as Anakin's then F+L=J.
  14. You know, in math those two are the same thing. Not sure where the big difference is supposed to be. Unless you're saying that GRRM asking D&D who Jon's mother was, and them answering correctly, simply proves J=X+L, where X is still an unknown (if any of you are thinking Xaro right now ) and has never confirmed X=R.
  15. He said the show has been more faithful than 97% other adaptations, a completely different statement than saying the show was very faithful to his books, which it wasn't since several seasons. And again, as it has been noted, he claims the main points would be similar, but that's it. And he might something different half a year from now.
  16. Well, if you are willing to accept that Bran becomes king, GRRM never said there won't also be a regency.
