  1. The season just finished. It was fun but not great. Unfortunately, I can't really remember any big highlight moments from this season. In the last episode, the escape the caravan task was interesting but pales in comparison to when the New Zealand contestants did it (S02E07). I'm excited to see Mo Farah compete in the upcoming New Year's Treat.
  2. Most of my students don't like history / social studies, so I sometimes tell them, "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it." I saw that quote repeated on a tv show recently. Unfortunately, the character attributed it to Churchill instead of Santayana.
  3. "If you are not aggrevated, then you are not paying attention." -- the truest bumper sticker that I have ever read
  4. If Yellowstone, GoT, and the LotR movies can have prequel series, they might as well give one to Walker, Texas Ranger to go along with its reboot. Where's that "Hollywood has officially run out of ideas" thread when I need it. ETA: Since I'm thinking about that thread, whatever happened to that Frasier reboot?
  5. The second episode of the season was a big improvement over the first. All 5 challenges were entertaining. Also, I was annoyed that the title of the episode wasn't: "You can’t see your pockets because… Yeah."
  6. Taskmaster is back for its 14th season. The 3-month break flew by. I didn't really realize that it was gone as Taskmaster NZ showed its 3rd season during that time. The first episode was hit-and-miss for me. The prize task was entertaining, but the team task was boring. I have a feeling that this season will be decent but will fall short of the high standard set by seasons 12 & 13.
  7. My first thought was: I've got to read that one based on the title alone. I was excited to learn that it's written by my favorite "unknown" author, Suzanne Palmer. I'm planning to read Bots of the Lost Arc sometime this weekend. But, since its a sequel, I probably need to reread The Secret Life of Bots first.
  8. No, Magic Mike is completely off my radar. Previously, I had only known him as Mr. Vergara or that werewolf guy from True Blood. Now I will also know him as the guy who reads nothing but Dragonlance.
  9. Please tell me that I'm not the only one who had to look up that name.
  10. Yes, I did. I posted a message upthread that's dated Mar. 27. It contains a box with an eye icon and the words "Reveal hidden contents". When typing a post for yourself, click on the eye icon and a box for hiding spoilers will appear. Also, welcome to the board. I hope that you will introduce yourself sometime.
  11. I personally used this thread a couple of months ago to test whether or not I could create a quote box that would hide spoilers.
  12. I finally found the time to watch CoC2. It had some good moments. It just wasn't up to the standards set by season 13 or by the New Years Treats.
  13. Another excellent season. I felt bad for Judi Love. Even David Baddiel won an episode. Next week is Champion of Champions 2.
  14. I have just added a new item to my bucket list -- go to a party where Ardal O'Hanlon is making martinis, shaken and stirred.
  15. I was curious to know more about Charlie Murphy, the actor who plays Makee. I was shocked to discover that she also played Iseult in season 1 of The Last Kingdom.
  16. There's something about this set of contestants. The banter between them and Greg and Alex is a lot more fun. As a result, the episodes are more enjoyable, especially when it comes to the prize tasks.
  17. This latest episode had the best prize task. All 3 house tasks were a lot of fun. Even though the stage task was slightly weak compared to the rest of the episode, I can’t think of a better episode.
  18. I still remember back in my day. My dad would say, "I can't hear the ball game." Then, I would have to get up off the couch, run to the tv, and turn a knob to make it louder. Also, get off my lawn.
  19. I just found out today that the new season had started. The first episode was fun. Sophie Duker is my favorite contestant so far. Can I ask a couple questions about British culture? If you find something "in a skip", where did you find it? Do students commonly study French as a second language?
  20. Murderbot and ART are two of my favorite literary names.
  21. "Stone Cold" opened the most recent episode of Monday Night Raw, and it was one of the best promos I've seen in a couple of years.
  22. That was one hell of a ride. So many questions. I really hope this doesn't go 5 seasons even if they're only 10 episodes each. I'm not sure how the producers got Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis to make that long of a commitment. What was jammed in the mouth of that skeleton in the abandoned cabin? Is Jessica still alive? Why was Taissa not worried about her when she got abducted? Where did Misty get that Medicinal Plants book? Where did that heart come from, Jackie or the bear? When Misty mentions a movie about "those rich ladies that kill that guy", she was referring to a Christian Ricci movie, right? Other fun moments that haven't been mentioned yet: Randy's reaction of "Um... so you're mad?" and Misery being one of the VCR tapes on top of the tv when Jessica and Misty are watching that Sandra Bullock movie.
  23. I've been thinking about my favorite TV quote a lot recently. "Come on, Ted. Sure it's no more peculiar than all that stuff we learned in the seminary, you know, Heaven and Hell and everlasting life and all that type of thing. You're not meant to take it seriously, Ted!" -- Dougal from Father Ted
  24. Season 12 is now over. It was a big improvement upon s11. I liked all 5 contestants, even Alan Davies. It was nice that the overall score seemed fairly close throughout the series. For some reason, every time I see Morgana Robinson I want her to play Catwoman in a Batman movie. Also, I really hope that they get rid of the team tasks. They just don't work very well during covid times. The series highlights for me were: the write a new jingle task, VCM's Grumpy Esquire, the pop the water balloon challenge, Guz using a croquet mallet to spread jam....
